"I traded the snow and sycamore trees for sunshine and cool evening breeze. I wake up to the sounds of roosters crowing, birds chirping and dogs barking. The sun rises before 6am and sets at 6pm. The greatest difference between New York City and Guyana living has been the change of pace. I am reminded of the importance of slowing down to savor each moment and admire the small details. When my body feels the urge to connect with nature, I simply have a seat on my veranda. I breathe in fresh air, feel the warmth of the sun and enjoy the peace. I love watching the palm trees dance in the breeze. It always reminds me that I am in a tropical place." - Peace Corps Response Volunteer Chanel

Injera is an Ethiopian flatbread that's a bit spongy, which makes it perfect for sopping up delicious stews and sauces. For Ethiopian Christmas I wanted to share the recipe that I make at home with Maya Haile. Enjoy! https://marcussamuelsson.com/recipe/injera

Realizing women's equal rights is key to achieving the , the world's to-do list for a better future for all.

As we seek to recover better from the pandemic, we can all do our part to help make gender equality a reality -- from defying gender roles to speaking up against all forms of violence against women and girls.

Did you know? Students studying in our chemistry program may choose from two bachelor’s degree options: 1) an American Chemical Society (ACS) certified bachelor of science degree or 2) a non-ACS-certified bachelor of science in chemistry. The extra rigor and additional requirements of the certified degree are valued by potential employers and graduate schools. πŸ™ŒπŸΎ

Indeed!

Being beautiful is not the most important thing in the world, but there is nothing wrong with wanting to feel beautiful.

When I was comparing myself to these ridiculous beauty standards, I never felt beautiful because I couldn't achieve "the look"

I have learned to be my own damn standard.

I have learned to appreciate the beauty in people who look like me, instead of aspiring to change my looks.

My skin, my hair, my body are all mine and I embrace every part of me with pride.

So become your OWN standard my friend and let go of this comparison game.
