It’s Student Feature Friday! Meet our newest Social Media Manager Abby Vanono! Abby is a Freshman Photography student here at Rutgers–Camden. She found her love for photography as a high school student while volunteering for her church’s tech team. Taking pictures for different events at church and helping to run the Sunday livestreams is where she learned the most of camera and photography and it’s what drove her to come to Rutgers to become a Photographer later in life. While she hasn’t been here long, her film photography teacher Prof. Alejandro Loureiro Lorenzo has been an amazing inspiration for her, and she hopes to continue to work with him in different classes for her major.

This Friday’s Faculty Feature highlights photography professor Keith Yahrling! ✨📸 Prof. Yahrling, originally from National Park, NJ, recently returned to South Jersey after living in Philadelphia for many years. He earned his BFA in Photography from The University of the Arts and his MFA in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design. Discovering his passion for photography in at a young age in high school is what Prof. Yahrling considers his greatest personal achievement. In 2015, he was named one of Photo District News’ “30 New and Emerging Photographers to Watch,” which he was nominated for. His most memorable work is What Was Lost At Fort Sill, a project inspired by his father’s deployment to Vietnam and the military base in Oklahoma where he was stationed. He blends his personal history with the larger history of the site, which makes his work stand out. Prof. Yahrling credits his graduate thesis advisor, Steven B. Smith, as a significant influence on his creative process. Outside of his teaching and artistic pursuits, he enjoys running and exploring new places on foot. Keep an eye out for his upcoming projects!
