Wilcox County Board of Education Members Attend AASB 2026 Summer Conference
Members of the Wilcox County Board of Education recently attended the Alabama Association of School Boards (AASB) 2026 Summer Conference, “Make Your Mark,” held in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The conference brought together educational leaders from across the state to engage in professional learning focused on effective governance, student achievement, strategic leadership, and best practices in public education.
Through conference sessions, networking opportunities, and collaborative discussions, board members gained valuable insights and resources to strengthen their capacity as educational leaders. This investment in continuous learning reflects the Board’s commitment to informed decision-making and its dedication to advancing opportunities and outcomes for all students in Wilcox County.
Representing the Wilcox County Board of Education at the conference were Bernard Martin (District 6), Sheila Dortch (District 3), Synauri Boykin, Vice-Chairwoman (District 5), Lester Turk, Chairman (District 2), Joseph Pettway (District 4, present but not pictured), Fran Cook (District 1, not in attendance), and Dr. Andre Saulsberry, Superintendent.
As stewards of public education, the Board remains committed to learning, leading, and bringing innovative ideas back to Wilcox County to ensure every student has access to a high-quality educational experience. By strengthening their leadership and governance skills, board members are better equipped to serve the needs of students, families, educators, and the broader community.
