🌟 Congratulations to Giovanna Romero Sarubbi on earning her Ph.D. in Public Affairs from Rutgers University–Camden!

Over six years of doctoral study, Dr. Romero Sarubbi examined one of education's most pressing challenges: teacher retention. Her research on working conditions, teacher autonomy, and educator turnover earned grant support, was presented at national conferences, and contributes to ongoing conversations about strengthening the teaching profession.

With the mentorship of Dr. Michael Hayes, Dr. Stephen Danley, and Dr. Manuel González Canché, she has built a body of scholarship dedicated to improving outcomes for educators and schools alike.

🍎 Great teachers change lives long before anyone remembers where they earned their degree.

Congratulations to Master of Arts in Teaching graduates Lori Braunstein and Nichole Deacon, two educators whose commitment to students led them to Rutgers–Camden and whose work will continue long after commencement.

Lori's journey began as a paraprofessional supporting students in the classroom. Nichole discovered her calling through substitute teaching and a desire to provide the encouragement and support she once wished she had received herself. Through the MAT program, both transformed that passion into preparation for a lifetime of teaching and learning.

We are proud to celebrate their achievement and grateful for the work they have chosen to do. The influence of a great teacher extends far beyond a classroom, reaching students, families, and communities for years to come.

🧬 Not all scientific discoveries begin with what can be seen.

As a Ph.D. student in Computational and Integrative Biology, Connor S. Pitman explored the hidden patterns within protein sequences, developing computational tools and approaches that help researchers better understand protein function, evolution, and disease.

An NSF-NRT Codes for Life Fellow, Connor's work culminated in his dissertation, Elucidating the Role of Non-Aliphatic Hydrophobic Residues and Hydrophobic Modularity in Proteins, under the mentorship of Dr. Grace Brannigan.
