Today is Polar Bear Plunge Day, so we’re celebrating Skye Boris! Skye is a 2009 graduate of CR High School and currently teaches physical education at her alma mater. She wears many hats at CRHS: teacher, department chair, head unified sports coach, head varsity softball coach, Girls Athletic Association advisor, and Blue-Gold club advisor. In 2022, she was named the Henlopen Conference & Delaware’s Softball Coach of the Year. Skye has been the driving force behind Unified Athletics and the Polar Bear Plunge for the district. Her fondest memories at CRHS include being a student-athlete and her most memorable experience as a coach was winning the 2022 state championship in Unified Flag Football. Skye’s parents have inspired her educational journey. Her dad has been a coach her whole life and her mom (Stokes counselor Nicole Boris) is a master teacher. Watching them give so much to the children they serve is motivating for her. She also cited Dr. Kijowski as a mentor and one her biggest supporters. Skye also finds it very rewarding to call former students & athletes colleagues and she absolutely loves the tradition and energy of graduation. As a PE teacher, Skye has the privilege of educating a diverse group of students and seeing them walk across the stage proves to her — time and time again — that the district’s community of educators can enthusiastically guide students into the next phase of life. Skye Boris…We Are CR! 💙💛
