A case report published in CRMJ examined a patient with a history of autism spectrum disorder and epilepsy who was hospitalized due to an epsidode of acute onset agitation and psychosis. After considering multiple diagnoses to explain the patient's new behavior, the medical team diagnosed the patient with bipolar disorder. The authors urged readers to consider this possible diagnosis when presented with similar patients in the clinical setting.

With 50% of women in the United States experiencing urinary incontinence during their lives, provider education plays an important role in making the proper diagnoses. A study published in CRMJ found that implementing an education program for providers addressing the unique diagnostic criteria of urinary incontinence could improve clinical decision making.

The lack of vitamin C ingestion can cause scurvy. An article published in CRMJ followed the case of a 62-year-old patient who presented with "red spots" on his legs in addition to other skin findings. The case highlighted the importance of proper history-taking and physical exam technique.

A recent narrative review published in CRMJ examined the implementation barriers that providers face in multidisciplinary care for chronic kidney disease patients. The authors emphasized the importance of this treatment approach for CKD patients and urged researchers to acknowledge these barriers when publishing their results in the field.

Telemedicine has become a popular alternative to in-person clinic visits in the field of psychiatry, but few studies examine the impact of telemedicine mental healthcare provided to patients with intellectual disabilities living in group homes.
A recent study in CRMJ designed a survey to evaluate these services and found that telemedicine was quite effective and acceptable to these patients as a way to receive care.

Hypoxemic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the neonatal population. Recent research has shown human adipose stem cells (hASCs) to have neuroprotective effects in animal models of HIE. A study new study published in CRMJ tested the hypothesis that neurodevelopmental outcomes would be improved using hASC therapy in term neonatal HIE rat model.
