Every time we walk into a school, we're reminded why we started VPI.

We may not remember every lesson we learned in high school, but we certainly remember the people who made us feel seen, heard and valued.

What if we could help more young people develop the skills to become those people for someone else?

🚨 When you hear the words "violence prevention," what's the first thing that comes to mind?

🤔 Most people don't immediately think about communication, emotional awareness, self-regulation or understanding different perspectives.

But that's exactly where so much of our work begins!

At VPI, we believe prevention starts long before a situation becomes a crisis.

And we challenging people to think differently about what prevention really means.

One of our favorite personal development skills we teach at VPI is Stay vs. Grow.

We can't always control what happens to us. But we can learn to recognize our choices, take responsibility for our responses and decide how we want to move forward.

And trust me, this is a lesson we continue to practice in our own lives!

It's one of the reasons we love teaching. We're never too old to learn, and we're certainly never too old to grow.

📚 Libraries are about so much more than books!

They’re gathering places, resource centers, and often the heart of our communities.

But have you ever stopped to think about the challenges library staff face every day?

We’ve had the privilege these last two weeks of working with some amazing library teams who recognize that taking care of their communities also means taking care of their employees.

Awareness, communication, confidence, and personal safety matter in every workplace.

And we love helping people build those skills!

🎤 Give Phil a classroom and a little caffeine, and he's ready to go!

One of the things we love about VPI is that no two classes are ever the same.

Different audiences. Different conversations. Different perspectives.

But always the same mission: helping people develop skills they can use long after they leave our training.

And yes, Phil will probably have a story for just about every situation! 😂 and you can bet there’s a little wisdom in every one of them!

🎤 From hometown high school classrooms to college campuses to NATIONAL conferences!

When we started VPI, we had one mission: get people talking about violence prevention BEFORE violence happens.

What started right here in our hometown area is now reaching audiences across the country!

From students and educators to community leaders and professionals, one thing we've learned is that personal development skills are for EVERYONE.

No matter your age, profession or background, we can all benefit from better communication, greater self-awareness and stronger connections.

Our audiences may look different, but our mission remains the same.

Chairs? ✔️

Phil and Rebecca running around making sure everything is ready? ALWAYS! 😂

We put a lot of work into making sure our VPI trainings aren't just another presentation. We want them to be an EXPERIENCE!

And yes, that means arriving early, rearranging chairs, organizing materials and occasionally wondering if we remembered everything 🤔

But once the room fills up and the conversations begin, it's all worth it. ❤️

📚 What do you get when you put a room full of librarians together who are eager to learn, share, and grow?

A pretty fantastic training day! 🙌

A huge THANK YOU to Eastern Shore Regional Library for such a great day of learning, conversation, laughter, and connection. We loved the energy this group brought to the room—and, as always, we learned from them too!

We’re already looking forward to being back next week to keep the conversation going.

Because libraries are so much more than books—they’re at the heart of our communities, and the people who serve them deserve the tools to feel confident, prepared, and safe 👏

Meet Phil, VPI's resident PowerPoint guru! 💻

While Rebecca is busy making connections, planning trainings and finding our next conference to speak at, Phil is usually somewhere behind a laptop making the magic happen!

PowerPoints, presentations, curriculum edits... give this man a laptop and a cup of coffee, and he's in his happy place! ☕😂

Different strengths, one shared mission. That's how teamwork works🤝💪

And yes, Rebecca occasionally has a few suggestions for those slides. Just a few! 🤣
