Due to the ongoing clean up efforts from the recent snowstorm, the Cambridge Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 27th. All CPS schools and administrative offices will be closed. All extracurricular activities and athletics events will be postponed. CPS schools will reopen on a normal schedule on Wednesday, January 28th.
DHSP programs will be open on a modified schedule on Tuesday, January 27th. Families should look for a communication from DHSP with respect to the locations and hours of operation for DHSP preschool and all its afterschool programs.

King Open School Paraprofessionals Ridge Salomon and Jalen Hills and Inclusion Specialist May Petrov have been nominated for recognition by Dr. Karyn Grace, Interim Assistant Superintendent of Student Services!
Dr. Grace celebrates the commitment they have shown to the Autism Spectrum Disorder program, calling them “unsung heroes” who provide consistency and meet the invaluable educational/social emotional needs of our scholars. Dr. Grace adds, “I couldn't be more impressed… They are truly amazing teachers who continue to inspire me.” Thank you for all that you do for our school community, Ridge, Jalen, and May!

All Cambridge Public Schools after school sports, clubs, and extracurricular activities are canceled on Tuesday, March 14, due to the winter storm. There will be no late bus transportation.
Additionally, the city’s Department of Human Services Programs (DHSP) Community Schools and after school care programs are canceled Tuesday, March 14.

Ms. Randall and her students dressed up as Pete the Cat for Character Day Spirit Day. Each student & their shirt represented a math equation from the Pete the Cat story they read together! How creative…great job!

Our Library Media Specialist Emily Litman is the recipient of the Massachusetts School Library Association’s (MSLA) 2022 President’s Award! The award recognizes those who are making a significant impact on student learning through a quality school library program.
Ms. Litman began her career at the King Open School during the height of the pandemic. She collaborated with her colleagues to co-plan engaging and relevant remote lessons. Ms. Litman continues to build a diverse and inclusive library collection that reflects the diversity of the King Open School community, introducing students to different identities and perspectives while bringing joy to her students along with her sidekick, S***t.
