Cambridge High School

Cambridge High School That place where we learned, socialized,triumphed and sometimes failed while meeting great people. In 1984 the school was closed.

In 1929, Cambridge High School was situated on School Street between Talbot and Somerset Avenues. On September 6, 1935, the school was severely damaged by fire; the students were forced to move to the Seminary Building on Academy Street until the structure was rebuilt. In 1977 the school became Cambridge Middle School, serving grades six, seven, and eight. (excerpt from "Cambridge Past & Present"). The remaining structure is currently the Dorchester Family YMCA.

How many have been back to see parts of the school that are still standing? In the YMCA- the old gymnasium softly or loudly (however distinct your memories are!) speaks of all the great times spent in that big open space. ;)
