A delegation from MIT (including our own Bethany Patten, repping our ) traveled to Glasgow for COP26, where international negotiators sought to keep global climate goals on track.

Negotiators from nearly 200 countries met in Glasgow, Scotland at the UN climate change conference to hammer out a new international agreement on climate. A delegation from MIT was in Glasgow to observe, conduct and share research, and launch new initiatives.

MIT Sloan Prof. John Sterman + 500 scientists warned leaders that burning wood for energy actually worsens climate change. Trees can be regrown, but take decades to mature enough to sequester the CO2 emitted when burned (meanwhile, temperature rise continues).
