America is a math-phobic culture. Starting from a young age, we’re given math as a series of inexplicable steps and impossible to understand techniques, then we’re told to follow the steps, get the answer we’re told to get, turn in the test, and then forget it all the next day. It’s no wonder that so many Americans end up thinking that math is impossible, or, even worse, that they’re not “math people”. Sound familiar?
But it doesn’t have to be this way. First of all, everyone can understand math, if it’s taught the right way. There’s no such thing as “math people”, just people who were taught well and people who were taught poorly. Second of all, math can be fun! I know I sound like an afterschool special when I say that, but seriously, if you like Sudoku, you can like math. You just need to be introduced to it in the right way.
This is why I’m launching a new online video series intended to teach middle-school and high-school level math to adults. I am a teacher of some of the most difficult standardized tests in the world: the GMAT, the GRE, and the LSAT. I teach these exams both privately and at universities like MIT. I’m familiar with the most modern teaching techniques, which I use to get my students to excellent scores on these difficult tests, but I also know when to let these techniques go and let the students learn at their own pace. In short, I’m a lot better at teaching math in an understandable, enjoyable way than your 7th math teacher. And I won’t even make you take the hall pass to use the bathroom.
The video series will be called “Algebra for Adults”. It’ll cover the most practical parts of your middle-school and high-school curriculums. You’ll learn how to evaluate a “scientific” diet, plan out the renovation of your home, and figure out whether a new car loan can fit inside your budget. It’ll be fun, interesting, and understandable. And, best of all? It’ll only cost $5 per lecture.

The Clear, Simple Guides for the GRE | Trevor Klee, Tutor Sorry, these guides take a couple seconds to load. I promise they’re worth it, though. In the meanwhile, here’s a joke. Three logicians walk into a bar. The bartender says, “Would you all like a beer?” The first logician says, “Maybe”. The second logician says, “Maybe”. The third logician says, “Yes...

"Excellent, concise, and very valuable"
-Albert Zhang, Chemical Engineer and GMAT taker
"I took the Kaplan course and I thought it was a waste of time and money. This, on the other hand, was well-written and very useful."
-Kevin Wang, Private Equity Analyst and GMAT taker
"Great overall tone throughout the guides. It made the GMAT a little less daunting, especially as other guides seem to be written by robot pod people."
