Tutoring Plus Spotlight: Ken Field, musician, composer, and president or JazzBoston

Ken Field is a long-time Tutoring Plus volunteer and subsequent Board Member and Board Chair. So there's no surprise that he considers Tutoring Plus to be an incredibly valuable and even critical community resource. A volunteer-based model that offers free after-school tutoring assistance to large numbers of students, Ken knows that the training and guidance provided by the dedicated staff at Tutoring Plus leads to positive and meaningful interactions between students and tutors.

"I can't think of a better investment in our youth and our community than a small or large donation to Tutoring Plus." - Ken Field

Tutoring Plus Spotlight: Jordan Harvey

Jordan joined Tutoring Plus in 2019 as a part-time program assistant, and then went on recently to be Director of Programs. Now in his 7th year at Tutoring Plus, he takes over the role as Executive Director. His main focus moving forward will be centering community voices in decision-making processes, deepening program quality and partnerships, investing in the volunteers and staff, diversifying fundraising, and thoughtfully planning for growth to reach more students – all without losing what makes Tutoring Plus special.

"At every transition point, I’ve carried relationships with students, families, volunteers, staff, partners, and supporters. All of which are essential to our work."
- Jordan Harvey

Help continue Jordan's journey to make Tutoring Plus a vital organization in the community by joining us April 16 at our annual "Meeting The Need" event. To learn more, visit https://www.tutoringplus.org/meeting-the-need

🌟 Tutor Tuesday Spotlight: Meet Matt! 🌟

"It's shocking how similar my student and I are..."

Matt has been a dedicated 1:1 Tutoring & Mentoring volunteer for the past 1.5 years, working with the same high school student. He brings a love of teaching and a knack for explaining tricky math and physics concepts.

One of his favorite moments? When his student told him, "I really like the way you explain things." His student, now a 10th grader, has been a part of our program since he was in 6th grade. We know that his endorsement is an honest one!

The 3 words he uses to describe his tutoring sessions are: fun, collaborative, and productive. His favorite quote sums up his approach perfectly: "Can't go under it, can't go around it, gotta go through it."

Thank you, Matt, for showing up week after week! 💙 💚
