Harvard 🌟 Herstory: In honor of International Woman’s Day, we would like to spotlight Margaret Montoya, Harvard’s first Latina graduate (J.D. Class of 1978) from Harvard Law School. A natural leader, she was awarded the prestigious Sheldon Traveling Fellowship, which allowed her to travel through Europe and Asia studying affirmative action in Malaysia and India. Never forgetting her Novo Mexicana roots, she returned to the University of New Mexico where she is currently Professor Emerita of the School of Law. Referenced for her work with nonprofits advocating for women’s rights, particularly those that affect women of color, immigrants, and victims of domestic violence, she is an indelible letter in the study and purpose of Law. If you’d like to learn more about this inspiring leader, click the link below or watch her documentary “Trenzas: Margaret Montoya”.
