The discovery of CRISPR/Cas9 genetic scissors has had a revolutionary impact on the life sciences. In the course of a few weeks, scientists can change the code of life with extremely high precision, making CRISPR/Cas9 one of gene technology’s sharpest tools.

This genetic tool has not only revolutionised basic science, but also resulted in innovative crops and will lead to ground-breaking new medical treatments.

The use of CRISPR/Cas9 has exploded since its discovery in 2012. In medicine, clinical trials of new cancer therapies are underway, and the dream of being able to cure inherited diseases is about to come true.

For a minimal fee ($15) teachers can register for Teacher day to get ideas and connections for teaching aviation and STEM.

After the morning, teachers get a wristband to watch the air show for the rest of the day.

What happens when insects disappear?

A new SEAS-led study found that flying insect abundance at Canada's Long Point Bird Observatory has dropped by more than 60% since the 1970s. As a result, tree swallows are becoming smaller and producing fewer young.

The research shows that climate change alone doesn't explain these changes. To fully understand how wildlife is being affected, we also need to consider biodiversity loss. Protecting insect populations could offer an important opportunity to help ecosystems—and the species that depend on them—recover.
