As a response to the COVID-19 crisis, our team has outlined and deployed a large-scale research project for Fall 2020 in collaboration with our partners in Latin America 🇧🇷🇧🇴🇨🇴🇪🇨🇲🇽🇵🇪🇺🇾. The project is composed of three topics that aim at helping MSE’s survive the crisis. The first topic intends to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 crisis via better supply chain management (i.e. inventory management, supplier relationship management, and customer relationship management) to improve their cash availability, the second topic seeks to help MSE’s to adopt e-commerce and the third one aims at identifying best practices for food industry MSEs employee’s health and safety.

We are excited to announce that the book "Supply Chain Management and Logistics in Emerging Markets" is available for pre-order on Amazon.

Dr. Josué Velázquez Martínez collaborated with Brenda Silupú, Dr. Marcos Agurto and engineering graduates of the UDEP to contribute with the book chapter "Adoption of Best Business and Supply Chain Practices, and Micro/Small Firms Performance. Evidence from Northern Peru."

We hope this chapter contributes to further research on this emerging field and the development of the region and other developing countries.

This topic intends to contribute to the survival and growth of small businesses by improving their digital transformation to adopt e-commerce.

The objective is to have a better understanding of the challenges that MSEs are facing in terms of digitization to leverage the factors that may facilitate the adoption of e-commerce. This topic is being led by the team of Daniel Jurburg at the Universidad de Montevideo (UM) in collaboration with our researchers at MIT.
