Boston Classical Soo Bahk Do

Boston Classical Soo Bahk Do Boston Classical Soo Bahk Do was founded by PJ Steyer on Sep. 22, 2001. BCSBD is certified by the U Soo Bahk Do training is enjoyable, but also challenging.

Boston Classical Soo Bahk Do (BCSBD) has been operating out of the YWCA Cambridge since 2001 under its founder, Master Steyer. In 2016, the YWCA Cambridge took over the operations of the program as part of their emerging focus on holistic health and wellness. BCSBD is certified by the US Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation (USA branch of the World Moo Duk Kwan) to teach the traditional Korean mart

ial art of Soo Bahk Do (cert. ) to men and women, children and teenagers, and individuals with special needs. Our mission at Boston Classical Soo Bahk Do is to work for human development and peace on personal, community, and worldwide levels. On the personal level, we follow the philosophy of "Neh Kang Weh Yu - Strong Inside, Gentle Outside." We train in an atmosphere of strong discipline so that we may best learn to understand and control in ourselves the serious power of our art and our minds. We stress self DEFENSE, not offense, and we are not competition-focused, (although we do offer the opportunity to participate in such events). On a community level, Boston Classical Soo Bahk Do is committed to social action, specifically the reduction and prevention of violence, and the promotion of inter-cultural awareness. Our aim is to help men, women, children, and people with special needs of all ages and ability levels to grow and develop in a positive manner. Worldwide, as a part of the Moo Duk Kwan, we are directly involved in "Mission 2000," our international effort towards World Peace by improving human relations through the practice of Soo Bahk Do. At Boston Classical Soo Bahk Do, all students learn at their own pace. As such, we believe in hard work over time in order to gain real results that are applicable in all arenas of one's life. Because BCSBD is a Moo Duk Kwan school, all students are recognized at their level at any of the hundreds of Moo Duk Kwan schools worldwide. Our class has a carefully prepared and closely monitored curriculum and training requirements, all of which are standardized worldwide by some of the world's best martial artists, and all of which are under continual development.

Today, we started our Soo Bahk Do training with a demo practice class. Then, we headed to the Asian Food Festival at the Rose Kennedy Greenway for a demonstration. Thank you to the Asian Food Festival organizers for inviting us to participate in your event! What a fantastic time and experience for all of our students! Cheever SBN, the MC for our performance, also delivered a final, crowd-pleasing Kyo Pa! Of course, we also ran into free Ben & Jerry's ice cream and just had to partake in the experience! Soo Bahk!
