NuVu High School

NuVu High School NuVu High School focuses on engineering, art, technology and design through project based learning.

NuVu provides transformative learning experiences that build students’ confidence and give them the skills for future success. Upon graduation, NuVu students are prepared to thrive at highly selective colleges and in a range of professional fields. Established in the Fall of 2010 in Cambridge, MA, NuVu provides students the opportunity to work collaboratively with experts, PhDs and alumni from MIT

and Harvard as well as working professionals, to solve real-world problems in an intensive and fun studio environment. Instead of taking six or seven different courses at once, students immerse themselves in one interdisciplinary studio at a time. A student might spend the first four weeks of the year designing a piece of wearable technology that will be shown at Boston Fashion Week and the next four weeks creating a short documentary film about the ethics of artificial intelligence. NuVu nurtures creative problem solving, team collaboration across networks, communication and presentation skills, systems thinking, adaptability, risk-taking and imagination, all critical for student success. For teachers and educators, NuVu provides training on how to bring innovative practices to students’ learning using project-based methods.

At NuVu, learning doesn’t stop with the coach.

Our seniors are leading this session’s Open Innovation studios — mentoring younger students, guiding projects, and helping ideas grow from spark to reality.

Open Innovation gives students the freedom to pursue self-directed work, push boundaries, and take ownership of the creative process.

Watching older students step into leadership makes it even more powerful.

Fast cuts. Racing thoughts. Big ideas. Welcome to Final Presentations at NuVu.

Today our students presented weeks of experimentation, iteration, research, and design work to a room full of peers, families, and guests.

Standing up and explaining your ideas clearly is a skill.NuVu students practice it every session.

By the time they graduate, they don’t just make incredible work — they know how to talk about it.

Capstone night at the Foundry in Cambridge

Nine seniors. Nine weeks of work. One room full of ideas, prototypes, questions, passion, and proud families.

From building a retro hockey video game that challenges modern gaming monetization… to redesigning assistive navigation technology for blind users… our students showed what can happen when learning is driven by curiosity and purpose.

The best part? Watching guests move from table to table asking questions, trying projects, and seeing students light up while explaining the work they created.

This is NuVu.

Not every project is meant to “solve” a real-world problem.

Some are meant to expose one.

Giving beavers wings might sound absurd—but it points to a real issue: animals trying to cross roads between habitats, often with deadly consequences.

Sometimes the most outlandish ideas are the ones that make us finally pay attention.

This week, students in Coach Heide’s Robots & Monsters: Introduction To Sci-Fi Genre Filmmaking studio stepped into a real TV studio with CCTV—learning lighting, staging, and what it actually takes to bring their projects to life.

This is what learning looks like when it leaves the classroom.

From studio to kitchen table.

After weeks of designing solutions for a working farm, Coach Ayush returned to —this time to sit down with Christine and share what the students created.

Ideas became conversations.
Concepts met reality.
Learning came full circle.

This is the power of working with real people on real problems.

This is the future of learning. Now enrolling 8-12th grade!

What if school just… isn’t working?”

Not because your kid can’t learn—
but because the system doesn’t fit them.

Two families.
Two completely different backgrounds.

Same decision:
They left.

What they found at NuVu changed everything.
Not just grades—
but confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love of learning.

“This is not a sugar high.”
It’s something deeper.
