PEAR: Partnerships in Education and Resilience

PEAR: Partnerships in Education and Resilience PEAR provides trainings and assessment tools that inform educators about program quality and youth social-emotional development and academic engagement.

PEAR: Partnerships in Education and Resilience works with schools, afterschool programs, and other youth-serving organizations to update educational practices by taking into account the critical tie between social-emotional development and health and life success. PEAR redevelops capacity of school systems to assess and address the challenges students face through: assessments, data analysis, prof

essional development, and school interventions. Dedicated to building resiliency in students, PEAR helps schools to know every child, strengthen school support teams, find student promotion, prevention and intervention opportunities, and use data to drive decision making in school planning. All educational settings can use these tools to better understand the non-academic picture of their students.

โœจ Join us Thursday, July 23rd, at 2:00pm ET for our next workshop: Developmental CBT for Educators: Early Response Strategies for Student Well-Being Workshop. โœจ

In this hands-on and engaging training, we'll be reviewing the Developmental Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies that can help students overcome difficult moments in classrooms and out-of-school time settings. With these tools, educators can build calm, connected, and supportive classrooms without needing the advanced training of a clinician. Instead, you'll be equipped with knowledge that blends youth development models and mental health practices to create an evidence-based method for non-clinicians.

These methods will allow you to recognize early signs of stress and emotional dysregulation in students so small problems can be helped before they escalate into larger issues. Youโ€™ll also learn how to engage distracted or withdrawn young people and those who seem overly quiet or chronically sad. We'll also discuss when and how to involve professional clinicians for evaluation or treatment, ensuring that every young person gets the support they need at the right level of care.

๐Ÿ’ก Session Highlights:
- Learning to recognize emotional and behavioral patterns that signal youth needs and strengths
- Understanding how to apply developmentally appropriate CBT-informed techniques to reduce stress and enhance coping
- Strengthening your own wellness and ability to stay calm and effective during challenges
- Leaving being able to foster resilience, reflection, and self-regulation among youth

โ€ผ๏ธ Don't miss your chance to learn these key skills for overcoming the emotional and mental health challenges that students are facing!

โ˜€๏ธ Is your summer program heading toward its final weeks? โ˜€๏ธ

If you didnโ€™t get a chance to run a pre-test at the start of the summer, you might think it's too late to capture meaningful data on youth growth and social-emotional learning.

โœจ The good news? It isnโ€™t! โœจ

PEARโ€™s Retrospective Surveys are the perfect solution for summer programs approaching the end of their programming. Unlike traditional pretest-posttest methods that require two separate rounds of testing, retrospective surveys only require a single assessment time at the very end of your program.

Why Retrospective Surveys are Perfect for Summer Programs:
โœ… You only need to survey youth once at the conclusion of your program, saving valuable staff time and reducing survey fatigue.
โœ… No Pre-Test Necessary: Even if you didn't gather baseline data on day one, you can still capture high-quality data on youth growth.
โœ… If students joined your program late, their growth can still be accurately measured.
โœ… Youth answer questions at the end when they have a fully developed understanding of the social-emotional or STEM concepts they learned.

PEAR offers two distinct retrospective formats to fit your program's specific needs:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Retrospective Self-Change (RSC): This quick, highly efficient format asks youth to directly rate how much they think or feel differently about themselves (e.g., "Much Less Now" to "Much More Now") as a result of your program.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Retrospective Pre-Post (RPP): This format asks youth to reflect and rate themselves on "then" (start of program) vs. "now" (today) across various skills in a single, two-step sitting.

Don't let the summer end without capturing the powerful impact of your programming!

๐Ÿ“ Ready to measure your impact? Contact PEAR today by filling out this form: https://www.pearinc.org/contact to learn more about implementing RSC or RPP surveys for your organization.
