• 127 patients with refractive errors
• 13 patients received prescription eyeglasses

With the theme "Don’t Think Waste. Think Opportunity!", we celebrated Global Recycling Day 2026 in our Sun Child Sponsorship Program areas in Bangladesh through an awareness rally and discussion. Students learned that many used materials have value and can be reused. Recycling saves resources, protects wealth, and supports a healthier future. The focus was on non-biodegradable materials like plastic to reduce pollution. Distressed Children & Infants International also promotes climate awareness and tree planting. With your support, we stand beside the most vulnerable families year after year. Often the true impact of that support is not immediately visible, yet it quietly transforms lives every single day. One such life is Abdur Rahim Sardar, an 80-year-old man living with his wife in a small village in Patuakhali, Bangladesh. With no land, no stable income, and fragile health, their daily survival once depended entirely on the kindness of others.
Through DCI’s continued food assistance and emergency support, Abdur Rahim and his wife now find relief during the most difficult times. What may seem like a small gesture becomes a lifeline that helps them live with dignity and hope. Today, Abdur Rahim and his wife share their heartfelt gratitude. And their story reminds us that there are still many people like them who continue to rely on this support.
Together, we can ensure that no one is left behind. Please join our mission at https://distressedchildren.org/give/

A counseling session on anemia was organized to raise health awareness among the young girls of Ananda Nibas. The session was conducted by Ms. Shumana Akter, RN (Registered Nurse), who explained in a simple and engaging manner what anemia is, its common symptoms, and how it can affect overall health.

During the session, she emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy and balanced diet. The girls were encouraged to include iron-rich foods such as leafy green vegetables, beans, and other nutritious items in their daily meals to help prevent anemia and stay healthy.

At the end of the session, hygiene materials, including sanitary napkins, were distributed among the adolescent girls to promote better personal hygiene and support their overall well-being.

We celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 in the areas of our Sun Child Sponsorship Program (SCSP) with an awareness rally and discussion on this year’s theme: “Rights. Justice. Action for All Women and Girls.” Girls shared how DCI’s support has helped them in education & skill development, confidence-building, and accessing opportunities to shape their future. Women spoke about how our skills trainings have empowered them to earn and support their families financially.
The session emphasized that true success happens when access to opportunity meets determination and hard work. It also emphasized the importance of women having the freedom to make decisions about their own lives, as well as family and financial matters, helping build safer and more empowered communities.

Happy International Women’s Day!
Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate the power and potential of women and girls. This year’s theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. for All Women and Girls,” inspires us to empower girls through education and opportunity.

Majority of our supported children are girls, succeeding at every step and often outperforming boys. Many are pursuing higher studies in medical, nursing, and honors programs, and village women are showing leadership through work with us.

This progress is possible because of the trust and support of our donors, partners and well-wishers. Join us at https://distressedchildren.org/give/

We are very proud to celebrate the incredible achievement of Ferdousi Begum from Nilphamari, who has secured a place on the merit list of the Diploma in Nursing Science and Midwifery Admission Test!
Through our Sun Child Sponsorship Program (SCSP), Ferdousi has been supported for nearly 10 years — from primary school through her HSC examination. And our support does not stop here. We will continue to stand beside Ferdousi as she begins her nursing studies. After losing her father at a young age, Ferdousi’s mother struggled to support the family without a stable income. At that critical moment, DCI stepped in to ensure Ferdousi could remain in school instead of being forced into child labor.
Congratulations, Ferdousi! Your future is bright, and we are incredibly proud of you.
Together, we can help many more children rise through education, dignity, and hope. https://distressedchildren.org/give/
