Have you read our latest newsletter?https://earlychildhoodcambridge.org/wp-content/uploads/OEC-Newsletter-MAY-2026.pdf

The OEC newsletter is designed to keep educators informed, inspired, and connected!

This year, we’re prioritizing depth over breadth by focusing on two key, interconnected areas: Children’s Behavioral Health and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), and Family Engagement. By centering our content on these topics, we aim to foster deeper learning and spark more meaningful conversations around critical aspects of early childhood education. We also hope this space will highlight the incredible work happening across programs and create opportunities for providers to learn from and support one another.

Hello Early Childhood Community!
The Cambridge Preschool Program Website Is New & Improved!

The new Cambridge Preschool Program (CPP) webpages are designed to be a comprehensive, user-friendly hub for families, providers, and community members seeking information about CPP.

The updated site now includes dedicated sections tailored to the needs of different audiences:

* “What Is CPP?” provides an overview of the Cambridge Preschool Program, including program information, policies, FAQs, and other helpful resources to better understand how CPP works.

* “CPP Families” serves as a resource center for families interested in or currently participating in CPP. Families can find information about eligibility requirements, how and where to apply, participating providers, and other important enrollment resources.

* “CPP Providers” offers support and guidance for participating preschool providers, including information related to program quality, educator development, operations, and administrative requirements.

Together, these new webpages create a centralized, easy-to-navigate space for all things CPP, making it easier for families and providers to access the information and resources they need.

Do you need afterschool care for your children? The City’s Department of Human Service Programs (DHSP) is now accepting applications to its DHSP Afterschool Lottery for the 2026-27 school year! Cambridge families can apply to DHSP’s four afterschool program models (Cambridge Youth Programs, Childcare Afterschool, Community Schools, and King Open Extended Day) through a single online application process.

• Cambridge children entering K-8th grade in September 2026 are eligible to apply.

• Tuition is determined based on household size and income. Programs are free for 6-8th graders enrolled in Cambridge Youth Programs’ Pre-Teen Middle School Programs.

• Children currently enrolled in a DHSP afterschool program can re-enroll in the same program by completing an application by the deadline. Open seats are filled through a lottery process.

The last day to apply is Monday, May 11. Families will be notified of their child’s placement in a program or in the Waiting Pool by the end of June.
