Two of our finalists, ZAHARA for Education and Making Water Visible: Pune's water systems, received Crowd Favorite Awards worth $2,500. They received the most number of votes in our virtual showcase, which was hosted by MIT Solve. Thank you to all who voted, and a big congratulations to the crowd favorites!

Through the IDEAS program, we have the distinct privilege and pleasure to work with incredibly passionate, creative, and kind students and social innovators. This year's Social Innovation Awards was dedicated to Dr. Shirley McBay, who passed on last year. A co-founder of the MIT PKG Center and former MIT Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. McBay is a celebrated champion for diversity, equity, and inclusion in education and service. Malia Lazu, Founder and CEO of The Lazu Group, gave the keynote address at the 2022 IDEAS Social Innovation Awards. She shared her thoughts about what it means to be a social innovator and ways to "become the best at being committed to making this planet better."
