Congratulations to President Claudine Gay, our newly inaugurated Harvard University leader! Today is an incredibly special day for our department, as President Gay hails from the Gov Department community (Ph.D. 1998, and faculty 2006 to present). We are absolutely thrilled and overjoyed to witness this momentous occasion. Here's to a new era of innovation, growth, and excellence!

Congrats, Eduardo! Eduardo Vasconcelos Goyanna Filho, a double concentrator in Gov and Econ, has been selected as the Chen Fellow in the New World Social Innovation Fellows Program. Their outstanding work with Young Peacebuilders in Brazilian Public Schools is truly commendable.

Congratulations to Sabrina Goldfischer ’23 on being chosen for the 2023 Harry and Cecile Starr Prize in Jewish Studies! Sabrina’s outstanding thesis is on “The Death of Discourse: Antisemitism at Harvard College”. More info about Sabrina’s thesis:
“Antisemitism is on the rise worldwide, and college campuses, in some ways, are a microcosm of this broader trend. In this thesis, I discuss the experience of Jewish students at Harvard, given the presence of antisemitism and anti-Israel activity on campus. Through analyzing these semi-structured interviews of 60 individuals, I describe both the climate of and present the consequences of this dynamic for students, and for the larger academic health of the College.”

Three Harvard Seniors Awarded 2023 Marshall Scholarship | News | The Harvard Crimson Harvard College students Grace R. Kim ’23, Kavya M. Shah ’23, and Aristotle Vainikos ’23 were tapped as Marshall Scholars, the British government announced Monday.

The Government Department is pleased to share that Brian Wee '23, a double concentrator in Government and Chemical & Physical Biology, has been named as a Rhodes Scholar for 2023. Congratulations!
