Cycling in Paris with . We can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday.

Pre-ride coffee, a few hours on the road, and conversations with people brought together by a shared love of cycling. A reminder that while cycling starts with the ride, it's often the people and the community that make it special.

This is what it took to win stage 17 of the Giro d’Italia.

202 kilometres.
4 hours and 55 minutes of racing.

But the numbers are only a fraction of what it took Michael Valgren to win his first Grand Tour stage.

Yesterday, it all came together.

Some victories mean more than others.

Art vs Science.

Episode 1 of The Cycling Performance Podcast is now live.

In the return episode of the podcast, presented by Team EF Coaching, Nathan Haas and Colby Pierce sit down with EF Pro Cycling founder Jonathan Vaughters for a deep conversation on what actually drives performance in cycling.

From being one of the earliest adopters of SRM power meters in the 1990s to building one of the longest-running teams in professional cycling, JV reflects on decades inside the sport and why coaching still depends on far more than numbers alone.

The conversation moves through tapering, recovery, fatigue, Grand Tour rest days, racing as training, and the danger of amateur athletes copying WorldTour outliers. Throughout the episode, JV shares stories and lessons from inside the Tour de France, Roubaix, and the Giro d’Italia, offering a rare insight into the instinct, experimentation, and decision-making behind elite performance.

A reminder that while data matters, the human behind the numbers matters even more.

Now live on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube.
