Join us tomorrow evening for a discussion on "Immigrating: Belonging, Integrating and the politics of exile" with Dr. Danilo Mandić.

Danilo Mandić is Associate Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology, Faculty Associate at the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies, and Faculty Associate at the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies. His researches focus on war, refugees, social movements, nationalism, ethnic relations, organized crime and conflict societies. His first book, Gangsters and Other Statesmen, received the Mirra Komarovsky Best Book Award (2022) and the ASA Section on Peace, War, and Social Conflict's Best Book Award​​​​​​ (2022). His second book, The Syrian Refugee Crisis, draws on extensive fieldwork from five countries to challenge conventional wisdom on the politics of displacement. His next book, Bad Refugees: Geopolitics, Stigma and Forced Migration in Modern Times, is expected in 2025 (Oxford University Press).

We are organizing a group to attend “Righting Wrongs: A Book Event with Kenneth Roth” on Thursday, April 3rd, at 6 PM. Professor Mathias Risse will be moderating this discussion with Kenneth Roth, former director of Human Rights Watch, sponsored by The Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at HKS, The Harvard Book Store, and The Cambridge Public Library. This will be a great opportunity to meet your fellow IR enthusiasts in person, and take advantage of the proximity to campus to be involved in the larger Harvard community.

We plan to meet beforehand at around 4:30 PM and then head over to the event together. Once we have a list of attendees, our Director of Events will contact you about where to meet up and any other logistical details. You are welcome to join for the afternoon or just the event, as your schedule allows.
