We are excited to introduce our third Camp Instructor!

"Hello - My name is Libby Bell, and I work as a para educator at Ballard West. Students call me “Miss Libby” 😊. I am also the crossing guard there, so you may have spotted me at the busy intersection with the big red stop sign!

I grew up on a farm in Southeast Iowa and currently live in Huxley. I am a huge CYCLONE FAN, and I also root for the St. Louis Cardinals. I love doing gymnastics and enjoy babysitting. I am a member of St. Mary of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Elkhart and am in leadership at the Celebrate Recovery Ministry at Cornerstone Church in Ames.

I am super excited to be at Camp Invention, most especially because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE being around students and supporting their learning! I love seeing a student’s face light up with a smile, then hearing their imagination put into words to create something in the classroom. This makes my heart SMILE. I am looking forward to seeing y’all at Camp Invention! 😊"

We are excited to introduce another one of our Camp Invention instructors! Meet Kristin Vogel.

"I am a new graduate from the University of Iowa this spring. I have a BA in Anthropology & Spanish, as well as a minor in History, but I have experience teaching younger children from my study abroad experience in Ecuador last fall!

I'm excited for another opportunity to help children learn through engaging, hands-on projects that encourage them to explore, create, and innovate. I'm excited to see how Camp Invention inspires the students and what they will create by the end of the week!

This summer, when I'm not helping with Camp Invention, you can find me reading Spanish novels (I'm currently reading "El tiempo entre costuras | The Time in Between (Stiches)" by María Dueñas.), visiting family and friends, and taking care of my houseplant collection."

We are excited to introduce our 2022 Camp instructor!

"Happy "almost" summer! My name is Whitney Hulse and I will be an instructor at Camp Invention this June. I am originally from northwest Iowa, but moved to Ames to attend Iowa State University. While at Iowa State studying International Studies, History and Spanish, I worked on military installations organizing summer camps in Spain, Japan and Germany. I also worked at multiple daycare centers in Ames throughout college. Since graduating in 2011, I have taught middle school and high school Spanish at Ballard where I fell in love with the district. I still teach Spanish at Ballard and am also the advisor for High School Student Council and Model United Nations. I returned to Iowa State part-time a few years ago and earned an M.Ed in Educational Leadership in 2018.

In my spare time, I love spending time with family and friends, traveling and creating dream travel itineraries, volunteering, spending time at the lakes, browsing vintage shops and markets, and watching old British television programs. I am super excited to join the participants at Camp Invention. It will be a great opportunity to interact with students that I will have in the future. More importantly, I look forward to helping these kiddos explore their interests while learning great skills and having fun!"
