WHAT DOES CAMAS MONTESSORI SCHOOL OFFER?

* Classroom student to adult ratios of 10:1

* Clear limits in the classroom to ensure progress, safety and concentration.

* Sequential progress in phonetic reading.

* Family involvement and an open relationship between parents and teachers.

* Opportunities for each child to develop independently and at their own pace


The children experience the freedom of choice, freedom of movement and concentration leading toward
independent function in the real world, not to mention the great joy they will feel having accomplished the many
tasks available to them. The children are not "pushed" into academic studies; rather they are supported in the process of skill development
as they show interest. They have no idea that this is "work", rather they are acting out their specific needs at
specific times in their lives. This time begins generally at age 3 when they've already absorbed their world and now find an intense need to
experience it and function independently in it.

Here are some good tips for preparing your kiddo to eat lunch at school 🥪🍎🥒

For our PreK and Kindergarten mamas...
Practice eating “school lunch” with your kiddo. Make sure they can open everything you send with them. Talk about not eating off of the table in the lunchroom!!! Set a timer for 15 minutes and talk about how they may not finish eating and that’s ok. (This was HARD for some.) Practice packing everything back up and talk about what is trash and what should come back home in their lunch box. PreK or first time Kindergarten lunch is a big adjustment and your child’s teacher will be super appreciative if you have prepared them for the experience!

Camas Montessori would like to take a moment to share some very disheartening news with everyone regarding our Butterfly Room teacher, Ms. Sara. Her son, Noah, was recently hospitalized because of a brain tumor that was found. Ms. Sara has been by his side day and night as they try to maneuver through this very scary time. There is a Gofundme set up in honor of Noah, and we wanted to share that with all of you. Any donations would be extremely appreciated as finances are going to become a big hardship for Ms. Sara and her family. Thank you for your support ❤️

Our classrooms are busy celebrating the fall season. There will be a pajama party on our October early release day Oct. 27. And some trick or treating within the classrooms. No school this Friday Oct. 8 due to conferences.

Meanwhile, I want to thank some very helpful parents…..
Gerrick Weakley, Neil Young, Nick Woolsey, Tetsoro Takeuchi for helping rebuild a nice Trex office deck over the summer. It looks fabulous! Thank you Bill Draper and Paul Hargrave for heading up this project.

Thank you to the team at Lifetime Exteriors (and especially Kris and Jenn Disbrow) for our new office siding…we look like a professional building now!

Also thank you Lan Yu and Jun Bays who weeded around the school and office in the rain today!

And thank you to our former but still supportive parent, Kira Keeney for keeping an eye on our flower beds near our school sign. She is organizing a “move the plants” party for a weekend in October.

It is with child development expert Erin Royer-Asrilant who is so easy to listen to. She also has a website, Yourvillageonline.com where she offers very affordable parenting classes. I encourage all parents to give her a listen.
