Exploring the way your child learns is important to me. It makes learning less like pulling teeth.
Doing a little investigating and understanding how my student is processing and working through a problem, finds a missing step or concept.

Learning is not one-size-fits all AND sometimes it is good to review the foundations to make sure it is strong and nothing is missing.
Or maybe it is, "I don't know how to start to solve it." Either way exploring together how to work through it to find the words or the concept is my goal.

As a dyslexic, reading, spelling and comprehension are always a challenge, but I find punctuation can also be a bit tricky, which is why I love cheat sheets like this!

Hi, I’m Teresa 👋
I’m an educator, tutor, and lifelong learner who believes that every child deserves to be understood before they’re expected to succeed.
I work with students who learn differently, including children with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, using individualized, evidence-informed approaches including Orton-Gillingham.
Over the years, I’ve learned that learning challenges are rarely as simple as they look on the surface. Sometimes a child knows more than they can put on paper. Sometimes “I don’t know” means something very different. And sometimes the breakthrough begins when we stop asking “What’s wrong?” and start asking “What is this child showing us?”
Here, I’ll be sharing what I teach, notice, question, and believe about learning — along with practical ideas for parents, educators, and anyone who wants to understand children who learn differently.
So welcome. 💛I’m Teresa, and sometimes the breakthrough begins with a better question.
