We wrapped up the Douglas County Fair yesterday! We had Livestock Judging, FFA Awards ceremony, and then Levi announced for the beef portion of Master Showmanship, and Katelyn was recognized at senior salute!

Thank you to everyone who made this week great. We couldn’t do this week without all of the community members coming together.

Special “thank you” to Roseburg Forest Products, Cow Creek, and Aiga Land and Timber for buying Hailee and Katelyn’s steers and Katelynn’s goat!

It’s auction day!!

Several of our members are selling today, Katelyn, Hailee, and Katelynn are selling in FFA, and several more of our chapter members are selling through their 4H clubs!

Auction starts at 4pm with the beef sale first, then the Buyer’s Dinner, followed by goats and then pigs. Come out and support these hard-working kids!

Another great day at the Douglas County Fair!

This morning, Katelynn placed 3rd in her showmanship class.

Then, this afternoon, Hailee and Katelyn gave presentations. Hailee taught the judges how to make a boutonniere, and Katelyn talked about the rural/urban divide.

Busy day at the Douglas County Fair for Camas Valley FFA members! We had Beef Showmanship, where Katelyn and Hailee both placed 4th in their classes. We also had the Market Goat show and Meat Goat Breeding show. Katelynn was 7th in her market class, and earned several first and seconds in her breeding classes. Finally, we had some students enter educational posters that they worked on in Horticulture. Jaylynn and Katelyn both placed first in their classes, and Ruth placed third in her class. Check the posters out in Douglas Hall, they’ll be up all week!

Overall outstanding representation of our chapter, school, and community today! Tomorrow will be Meat Goat Showmanship and setting up for the auction!

Today was the market beef show at Fair! Katelyn and Hailee showed their steers well, both placing 5th in their respective classes!

Tomorrow we have beef showmanship, and Katelynn will show her market goat and breeding does in the Meat Goat Show.

⭐️Meet Hailee Tabor and her market steer!⭐️

Hailee just finished up her freshman year and has been in FFA for two years. She has tried many new contests this year, taking full advantage of the FFA chapter, and this is her fifth market steer!

About her FFA experience and steer project, Hailee said:
“I learned how to make a boutonnières and how to train steers in a more efficient way. As a student athlete, efficiency with training is key to being able to fit in all my activities between sports and FFA.”

⭐️Meet Katelynn Simpson and her goats!⭐️

Katelynn just finished her junior year, has been in FFA for three years, earned her State Degree this year, and was a state finalist for her Goat Production Proficiency!

Katelynn has expanded her goat herd this year, adding some dairy goats to the mix. She breeds her does and either keeps or sells their offspring. She is also selling her market goat, Gambler, in the auction this year.
