👉🏽Facts About Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD)
HFMD is caused by a virus.
It spreads through coughs, sneezes, and touching things.
Kids under 5 get it most often.
Symptoms include fever, mouth sores, and a rash on hands and feet.
Most cases heal in 7-10 days, but severe cases take longer.
👇🏼Tips to Clean and Stop the Spread
Wash hands often with soap and water.
Clean toys, doorknobs, and surfaces daily.
Don’t share cups, utensils, or towels.
Stay home if sick to avoid spreading it.
Use disinfectant wipes on high-touch areas.
👇🏼Myths About HFMD
Myth: Only kids get it.
Fact: Adults can get it too, but it’s less common.
Myth: You can get it from animals.
Fact: HFMD only spreads between people.
👇🏼Where Can Kids Get HFMD?
Daycares and schools (close contact with others).
Playgrounds (shared toys and surfaces).
Public places (stores, parks, etc.).
At home (from family members who are sick).
👇🏼How to Help Kids with HFMD
Relieve Pain: Use acetaminophen or ibuprofen (ask a doctor first).
Hydrate: Offer water, milk, or cold drinks. Avoid acidic drinks.
Soothe Sores: Give soft, cool foods like yogurt or ice pops.
Rest: Keep kids home until fever and symptoms are gone.
Watch for Dehydration: Call a doctor if they can’t drink
👉🏼Does It Mean You’re Dirty?
No, getting HFMD doesn’t mean you’re dirty. It spreads easily, even if you’re clean. Kids catch it because they touch everything and often put hands or toys in their mouths. Good hygiene helps, but it’s not always enough to stop the virus.

The quote Children learn by doing, and doing is noisy, untidy, messy, and unpredictable means that kids learn best when they try things for themselves.
Learning by Doing: Kids understand things better when they use their hands, explore, and try new activities like building, drawing, or playing outside.
Messiness is Normal: Learning isn’t always clean or quiet. It can get messy, loud, and sometimes things don’t go as planned, but that’s okay.
Exploration is Important: This reminds parents and teachers to let kids explore and make a mess because that’s how they grow and figure things out.
In short, the mess and noise are part of how kids learn and discover new things. It’s all part of the fun💛
