Congratulations to Abel Velasquez, who was sworn in as Student Trustee at the Ventura County Community College District Board of Trustees meeting earlier this week. Abel brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and dedication, and we are so excited to see the impact he will make for students across our colleges. We wish him all the best in this new role! 🧡

Today, we remember and honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of the Allied forces who took part in the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944.

D-Day marked a pivotal moment in history and serves as a reminder of the extraordinary bravery demonstrated by those who fought to defend freedom during World War II. As we reflect on this day, we pay tribute to the veterans, service members, and families whose sacrifices helped shape the world we know today.

Their legacy of service and commitment continues to inspire future generations.

Behind every commencement ceremony is a journey shaped by hard work, perseverance, and determination. From first-generation college students and working parents to veterans and returning learners, thousands of students across Moorpark College, Oxnard College, and Ventura College are crossing the stage this spring and stepping into new opportunities.

In his latest op-ed, Chancellor Rick MacLennan reflects on the power of community colleges to transform lives, strengthen communities, and create pathways to economic mobility. He also highlights a historic milestone for Moorpark College as it celebrates its first graduating class of bachelor’s degree students through the college’s applied baccalaureate program.

As we celebrate the Class of 2026, we honor not only their achievements, but the impact they will have on our region for years to come. 💙
