A new book launching today — March 19, 2026 — may be the most powerful tool yet for moving the science of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) from the margins to the mainstream.
We — the 62,385 members of PACEs Connection— have the collective power to make sure it gets there. If we act now, and purchase the book today to help it get to the New York Times Best Seller List, where it will gain the attention it deserves, to help the author get on those all-important talk shows to tell our collective stories, finally make ACES Science a household term.
I hope you will help!
The book is Greater Than Gravity: How Childhood Trauma Is Pulling Down Humanity by Mike Menard. Please boost our cause buying it today at www.Amazon.com/dp/1968559019.
Why today?
Amazon's algorithms reward early sales velocity. A book that sells in high volume on launch day gets seen by millions. One that doesn't disappears. With our 62,385 members across more than 500 geographic, national, international, and sector-specific communities, PACEs Connection has the reach to help push this book onto bestseller lists — and into the hands of the policymakers, corporate leaders, educators, healthcare providers, and community leaders who most need to read it.
I've spent more than 20 years trying to explain, elevate, and make memorable and ACTIONABLE the science of ACEs — knowing that if enough people truly understood it, we could reach a tipping point. Greater Than Gravitymay be the book that finally gets us there.
Why This Book
Author Michael Menard is no outside observer. He grew up in abject poverty, one of 14 children, with a father who poured his rage onto his family and a mother who poured her love. He lived both sides of the PACEs equation — the adverse and the positive — and writes about both with the rigor of a researcher and the honesty of someone who has been there.
The result is the book many of us in this field have been waiting for: one that delivers the science, the stories, the footnotes, and the solutions in language that is accessible, compelling, and impossible to set aside.
Here’s my truth about this book:
Greater Than Gravity is affirmation, confirmation, proof about ACEs Science so many of us have been trying to get policymakers, corporate leaders, medical schools, people in justice, education, mental health, and more to grasp and apply for DECADES. Prevention is so much more effective — and so much more cost effective — than treatment. Prevention science prevents pain. Multi-generational pain. Sharing this book can help us raise awareness and, I believe, help more children from experiencing the pain of childhood trauma and neglect.
Why It Matters — and Why Now
Childhood trauma is the upstream root cause of addiction, poverty, violence, poor health, neglect, and so many of our most seemingly intractable social problems. That is not opinion — it is three decades of science, beginning with the landmark 1998 ACEs Study published by Kaiser Permanente and the CDC, and confirmed by thousands of studies since.
What has been missing? We need a tipping point — the moment when enough leaders in enough rooms finally understand the science deeply enough to act on it. To change the systems that cause childhood trauma in the first place.
This book can be that moment. But only if it gets seen.
What You Can Do — Right Now
Buy the book today at www.Amazon.com/dp/1968559019.
Then share this post on LinkedIn, Facebook, or your other social media homes today, using the little icons below, in the line of social media icons. Tag a policymaker, a physician, a teacher, a coach, a faith leader, a corporate executive — anyone with the power to change the systems that shape children's lives.
We have 62,385 members. We have more than 500 communities. We have spent years — many of us, decades — doing this work. Today we have one more tool, and one clear ask. Buy and share this book!
Let's make this the day the science finally reaches the people who can act on it, enough of them to tip this work in our favor to help prevent the next case of domestic violence, child sexual abuse, child abuse, neglect, and harm. WE CAN DO THIS!
Please order copies now to share with friends. I just ordered 11; will be ordering another 10 after I post this! Thanks for your help.
Advancing Parenting
Advancing Parenting places concise and unambiguous parenting tips in public spaces in an effort to improve the quality of parenting in communities.
Advancing Parenting is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring the quality of parenting in communities. We place concise and unambiguous parenting tips on the windows of stores, offices, restaurants, automobiles, lawn signs, and soon electronic billboards. This, in an effort to reduce child abuse, substance abuse, domestic violence, crime, and improve educational outcomes for children. At this time we are only active in Bakersfield, CA.
Friends,
Two weeks from today, Greater Than Gravity drops.
If you're new here — and 2,500 of you are — welcome. You just walked into something bigger than a book launch. You walked into a movement. I'll explain why in a minute.
But first, I need to be direct with you.
I need your help on one specific day: March 19th.
That's launch day. And here's what most people don't know about how books break through: it's not about selling a million copies over a year. It's about selling as many copies as possible on a single day. That's how Amazon's bestseller algorithm works. A concentrated surge on day one changes everything — visibility, credibility, momentum.
So here's my ask: On March 19th, please go to Amazon and buy the book.
One copy. That's it. That one click is your vote that childhood trauma deserves national attention.
And every dollar of proceeds goes directly to UACT — United Against Childhood Trauma — our 501(c)(3) nonprofit building the first comprehensive ecosystem for trauma awareness, healing, and prevention. You're not buying a book. You're funding a mission.
Now — why this matters.
Here's a line from the book that keeps me up at night:
"Once a child experiences trauma, disorders and diseases can erupt unannounced decades later — turning healthy adults into walking time bombs of mental illness, addiction, and early death."
That's not poetry. That's science. More than 350 peer-reviewed studies confirm it. Childhood trauma is now responsible for an estimated 1,401 American deaths every day. It is the #1 contributor to addiction, su***de, and incarceration. And almost nobody is connecting the dots at scale.
Until now.
One more thing — and this might matter most of all.
If this mission hits you in the gut, if you've lived it or loved someone who has, please share this newsletter with someone. Forward this email. Text them the signup link. Post it. Every person who joins this list becomes another voice demanding that we stop treating symptoms and start addressing the root cause.
We are 3,000 strong today. I want to be 5,000 by March 19th.
Two weeks, friends. One day that matters. One click that counts.
Let's make some noise.
With gratitude,
Michael Menard

The need for an entirely new kind of parenting education is growing.
Why?
Because unsupportive and harmful parenting devastates children, families, and communities and significantly increases the cost of social services, healthcare, and law enforcement.
An entirely new kind of parenting education would be one that reaches everyone, everywhere, all the time.
It would reach grandparents raising grandchildren, mature parents, young parents, soon-to-be parents, single people, teens, even school age children.
It would not have an end date and would become a permanent fixture of our culture.
The Camarillo, CA nonprofit Advancing Parenting is pioneering a low tech yet powerful variation on this new parenting education. Advancing Parenting produces parenting tip bumper stickers.
Don’t laugh.
Individuals, schools, clinics, cities, organizations, and agencies can use the bumper stickers to promote positive childhood experiences and prevent adverse childhood experiences. They can be put in holders and placed on office counters so staff and visitors can choose one for their cars. They can also be given away at meetings and events, and put on fleet vehicles. Some are quite wordy, but there’s plenty of time to read them at stoplights…and just one will be read thousands of times!
Visit www.advancingparenting.org to learn more about this wonderful, groundbreaking resource. 🙂
Is the PACES Community asking the right question?
“If you want to understand how to fix a problem, you have to ask who is profiting from the problem.” Author unknown.
So...who profits when children don't enjoy positive childhood experiences and suffer adverse childhood experiences?
My guess is the businesses and organizations involved in treating the victims.
If no one endures adverse childhood experiences and everyone benefits from positive childhood experiences those businesses and organizations would have to close their doors.
If these businesses and organizations really wanted to do the greatest good for the greatest number you'd think they'd search for the most proactive solution...some kind of universal primary prevention...something akin to a vaccine. To me, they're like doctors and nurses who instead of immunizing people would rather work furiously to keep polio patients alive.
Visit www.advancingparenting.org.
The Camarillo nonprofit Advancing Parenting will be giving away its parenting tips bumper stickers from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. tomorrow, Thursday June 26 at the Camarillo Ranch House Food Truck event.
There are 55 to choose from and just one will be read thousands of times.
Advancing Parenting's bumper stickers are an entirely new kind of parenting education that reaches everyone, everywhere. Some are wordy, but there's plenty of time to read them at stoplights.
See you there!
I asked ChatGPT this question.
Should public health authorities develop an entirely new kind of parenting education that reaches everyone, everywhere?
ChatGPT said:
That’s a really important and timely question. Here's a quick take:
Yes — public health authorities should develop a new kind of parenting education that reaches everyone, everywhere. Here's why:
Parenting affects child development more than almost anything else — from mental health and academic success to long-term well-being. But most parenting education is reactive or targeted only at families in crisis. That leaves out millions of parents who could benefit from support before problems arise.
Just like vaccinations prevent disease, universal parenting education can prevent maltreatment, behavioral issues, and mental health struggles. Catching stress, isolation, or harmful parenting patterns before they become severe is much more effective and humane than stepping in after harm has occurred.
