California Band & Music Academy

The California Band and Music Academy (CABAMA) along with it's Creative Arts Music Project (C.A.M.P.) is now operating at Agoura Borealis Recording Studios in Agoura Hills Ca, a beautiful world class recording studio and rehearsal room fully equipped with all of the essential instruments for rehearsing and recording both original and cover material for the purpose of performing in bands in all styles of music from Rock, Pop, Latin, Jazz, Country, R&B , Funk, Hip Hop, and much more. Lessons are being given on all instruments both one on one and in group/ensemble situations for the purpose of learning how to play in a band in preparation for live performances of all song material learned. Additionally, the professional recording facility, formerly the home studio of music icon and legend, Glen Campbell, is available for the recording of all songs being learned both in the band format as well as in individual performances. Video of these performances will also be offered as part of this educational package over an 8 week period running concurrently all year round. I have added several new and wonderful students on piano, guitar and drums with music theory also being integrated into their studies. All students are playing with great confidence and knowledge of their instruments . They are playing the music they have chosen to learn from the Blues, Jazz, R&B to The Beatles including in depth studies of music theory to help them to understand the relativity of music and the context in which they are playing. In January I am offering 4 classes on Rhythm, Blues Guitar, beginning Guitar and Music Theory at the Parks and Recreation in Camarillo. If you are in the area, come on over and join in. Recently I was at the Oxnard Youth Arts Festival where I met many new people interested in studying music.

Played a gig in Trancas/Malibu CA last week...Lots of fun playing drums to Zydeco music and Beatles plus lots of Classic Rock tunes. Nearly 3 hours of songs with no break...whew!!! My bandmates were terrific...all taking turns singing lead vocals and playing their butts off..

This week was busy.....I played 4 Valentine's gigs as a singer/guitarist and continue to add more great students every week. I appreciate any and all referrals for students wanting to learn music...guitar, bass, drums, music theory...songwriting, etc.....A student who is determined to learn music is capable of enhancing, not only their own world, but also, everyone around them.

I have added several new students to my roster lately...a young 10 year old guitarist who plays scales wonderfully well & is learning California Dreaming as quickly as anyone could; an excited & gifted 13 year old female guitarist who loves lots of great new music and also sings well; A very gifted 16 year old male who wants to learn guitar, drums, bass, Piano and music theory to understand how it is all put together. He is a natural player with great fingers for all instruments; a 50 year old new drum student who is learning all the basic note values, reading, grooving, syncopation, double strokes, di**le concepts and drum set dynamics as well. Another new drum student starting tomorrow afternoon. I will be playing guitar with all of my new drum students a s soon as they can hold their own groove well enough to control the time and limb placements. I continue to add new students and will be putting bands together as soon as more come on board. Please spread the word so everyone knows where to come to learn the kind of skills they will need to be the creative player they know they can be.
