Dos Caminos School provides a dynamic student-centered environment with an emphasis on Career and College readiness. DCS students are explicitly taught executive functioning skills of organization, goal setting, and self-monitoring steps to success. Building on our storied traditions, the DCS team has worked to create school-wide initiatives that address the whole child and include social emotional learning, inclusion, character building, academic language and development. Our students are artists, athletes, scholars, and environmental stewards. Our PTA has been instrumental in supporting expanded enrichment for students and volunteerism. Families will find partners in our scholarly ambitions and opportunities to assist in these endeavors.

💙💙💙 One of the highlights at Dos Caminos this week was seeing all the final instructional touches in preparation of our Win Time program. Our team has been working to identify the specific needs for each child and crafting a plan forward. Some students are ready to take the content standard in a different direction to expand upon and challenge, some need a little extra practice to reach mastery, and others benefit from targeted interventions. Our walk-to-learn model operates in 4-to-6-week cycles, with students participating 3-5 days each week based on their individual learning needs. Kudos to our team for all their creativity, efforts, high expectations, and for creating moments like this. 💙

💙💙 At DCS, we explicitly teach the art of executive functioning. In the photo, the students are organizing their materials in their folders that are labeled in both English and Spanish to compliment the work in our Dual Language Immersion Program. Every student, TK-5th grade, is provided with organizational tools, and we then teach them how to use those tools effectively through direct instruction, consistent routines, and ongoing self-assessments. This is connected to our AVID Goal #1, for students to develop the skills and habits they need to become organized, independent, reflective, and confident learners. 💙
