Mount Cross Child Development Center, Camarillo, CA The Preschool on the Hill The school may have been here since then, but its roots go back in Lutheran education here in Camarillo for over forty years!

Located in a quiet, residential area, Mount Cross Child Development Center (CDC) has been an important part of the ministry of Mount Cross Lutheran Church since the fall of 1988. This well-known preschool has qualified staff and is licensed by the State of California. Cathy Channels, the director, has over 40 years experience in the child development field. She earned her BA in Child Development from CSUN and holds an Early Childhood Education Certificate as well as an administrative credential from the National Institute of Child Care Management.

Our open floor plan, mixed-age classroom provides a welcoming environment where children learn, play, and grow together. Younger children benefit from observing and learning from older peers, while older children develop confidence, leadership, and empathy by helping younger classmates. The open layout encourages exploration, collaboration, and independence, allowing teachers to support each child's individual development while fostering a strong sense of community. Through hands-on learning and meaningful interactions, children build the social, emotional, and academic skills they need to thrive!
