Why is the bond renewal election being held in August rather than November?

The August 4 election provided an opportunity to save costs for the district. Holding the election in August also provides the district with additional time for planning.

If the bond measure is approved, the district can continue moving forward with the proposed project timeline. If it is not approved, the district would have time to evaluate next steps, continue gathering community feedback, and determine whether to bring a revised proposal back to voters at a future election.

The proposed bond is structured to result in a zero mill net increase over the prior year’s levy.

Calumet High School and Sacred Heart High School Announce Distinguished Alumni Class of 2026
Calumet, Michigan — The Calumet High School and Sacred Heart High School Distinguished Alumni Committee is proud to announce the selection of the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Class, recognizing eight exceptional individuals whose achievements, leadership, and service have brought honor to their school and communities.
The members of the Calumet High School and Sacred Heart High School Distinguished Alumni Class of 2026 are:

• Andy Storm
• Janet Turpening
These distinguished alumni represent the values of excellence, dedication, and community spirit that have long been hallmarks of Calumet High School and Sacred Heart High School. Their accomplishments in professional careers, community involvement, and personal endeavors serve as an inspiration to current and future generations of students.
The Distinguished Alumni Induction Ceremony will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the CLK Schools. Family members, classmates, friends, and community members are invited to attend and celebrate the accomplishments of this outstanding group of alumni.
A luncheon will be available beginning at 11:00 a.m. at a cost of $15 per person, followed by the Distinguished Alumni Induction Ceremony.
The Distinguished Alumni Committee encourages alumni and community members to join in honoring the 2026 inductees and celebrating the rich tradition and lasting legacy of Calumet High School and Sacred Heart High School.

Why is now the time to address our facility needs in CLK Schools?

Many of the district’s facility needs involve essential building systems, including heating, ventilation, plumbing, windows, masonry, and structural elements. These systems become more expensive to maintain as they age.

Addressing these needs now would allow the district to take a proactive approach, complete projects more efficiently, and extend the useful life of school buildings.

If the bond renewal on August 4 is approved, the district would move forward with targeted facility improvements without increasing property taxes for our community.
