Proverbs 3:9–10
Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. NIV

There are various ways that we can honor the Lord. We can honor the Lord by living a pure life, a holy life, by worshiping Him, by proclaiming His truth. But one very significant and important way to honor the Lord is with our wealth. By giving Him the first of all that He makes available to us – the financial and material provision – always taking the Lord’s portion out first, and giving it back to Him. That’s to honor the Lord with our wealth.

And I have to tell you this: that with our wealth we either honor the Lord or we dishonor Him. There is no middle ground. If we are stingy, if we withhold the Lord’s portion, if we don’t give when the Holy Spirit prompts us to give, then we are dishonoring the Lord. But God says, “Those that honor Me I will honor” and He honors us back in the same way that we honor Him.

If we honor Him financially, giving Him the first and the best, then He will see to it that our barns are filled and our vats overflow with the new wine. So honor God and He will honor you. Do it in faith. Do it in obedience to His word. Do it in obedience to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. If God is speaking to you just now and you need to honor Him, remember: if you honor Him with your wealth, He’ll see to it that you are cared for.

1 Not that I am implying that I was in any personal want, for I have learned how to be content (satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or disquieted) in whatever state I am.
12 I know how to be abased and live humbly in straitened circumstances, and I know also how to enjoy plenty and live in abundance. I have learned in any and all circumstances the secret of facing every situation, whether well-fed or going hungry, having a sufficiency and enough to spare or going without and being in want.

14 But it was right and commendable and noble of you to contribute for my needs and to share my difficulties with me.
15 And you Philippians yourselves well know that in the early days of the Gospel ministry, when I left Macedonia, no church (assembly) entered into partnership with me and opened up [a debit and credit] account in giving and receiving except you only.
16 For even in Thessalonica you sent [me contributions] for my needs, not only once but a second time.
17 Not that I seek or am eager for [your] gift, but I do seek and am eager for the fruit which increases to your credit [the harvest of blessing that is accumulating to your account].
18 But I have [your full payment] and more; I have everything I need and am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent me. [They are the] fragrant odor of an offering and sacrifice which God welcomes and in which He delights.
19 And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
20 To our God and Father be glory forever and ever (through the endless eternities of the eternities). Amen (so be it).

God does not give away free money! There is no incident in the Bible where God dropped money from heaven and blessed someone. People became wealthy because they obeyed God and put into practice the opportunities and ideas He gave them according to the principles in His Word.

Kingdom economy is not about money or making more of it. It is about what creates money. Before we can handle it, we need to be set free from the spirit that controls the monetary system of this world. That is the first step that needs to happen for us to qualify to handle kingdom economy.

Many of those that talk about the kingdom today are still controlled, or influenced by, covetousness, greed, and the spirit of mammon. All they care about is making more money. When you are in the kingdom, making a little more money should not be our priority. Establishing God’s will is our priority. We will need money to do that, but we need to put money at the place where it belongs.

We should not let money control our decisions, or us. The Holy Spirit should lead us. How do we know when we are free from the spirit of mammon or covetousness? We are free when money has no influence on our decisions. It is when we see money as a tool and not as a source or a master.

Premeditated sin will invite demons. Keep your plans holy and pleasing to God:

“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3).

There is an awesome promise that goes with keeping His commandments and doing those things that please Him. “And whatever we ask, we will receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight” (1John 3:22).

Focus on pleasing Him.
