We are thrilled to announce Raina Ashrafi (Addison Trail HS) and Keniyah Stephenson (Thornton Fractional North HS) as our 2025 IHSMTA Student Reporters! Both Raina and Keniyah will be covering IHSMTA on May 12th on the IHSMTA Instagram Story. In addition, they will be IHSMTA’s submissions to be The Jimmy Awards Student Reporter! TWO BACK TO BACK STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS, ONE RUNNER-UP TROPHY, SO MUCH HISTORY MADE🏆

After so much hard work, North Theatre clinched ANOTHER State Championship! At the IHSA Drama State Finals, our Group Interpretation team’s piece “X” took home 1st place. This makes it the second team championship in TF North history, coming after last year’s GI team who got the first!

Congratulations to our State Champions John McBeth III, Ikeoluwani Grace Apata, Jamareon Mann, Tianna Bowen, Keniyah Stephenson, Joseph Merritt, Amonis Overstreet, Akyha Wells, My’lana Qualls, Victoria Jolie Spencer, Quentin Hall, Zaria Jacobs, Anaeya Kelly, Jessica King, Daniel Jackson, Tamilore Ogundeyi, and Shekinah Ogedegbe.

A Special shout out to our All State Actors and Musicians in GI: John McBeth III, Ikeoluwani Grace Apata, Jamareon Mann, Tianna Bowen, Keniyah Stephenson, Joseph Merritt, Daniel Jackson, Tamilore Ogundeyi, and Shekinah Ogedegbe. Who were nominated by ALL 5 judges.

But we’re not done! We also brought back the FIRST CONTEST PLAY TROPHY IN NORTH HISTORY!! The Contest Play cast and crew brought their story to life and took home a State Runner-Up trophy with their piece “East Texas Hot Links”.

Congratulations to ALL of the actors in Contest Play. They each received an All State performer title: John McBeth III, Ikeoluwani Grace Apata, Jamareon Mann, Tianna Bowen, Amonis Overstreet, Joseph Merritt, and Quentin Hall. Along with our All State Lighting Director: Shekinah Ogedegbe.

It still doesn’t stop there…

We also brought home ANOTHER STATE CHAMPIONSHIP in Musical Theatre Review! Our MTR team finished 1st in State with their selection of “The Prince of Egypt”

Congratulations to the MTR team and DOUBLE state champions: John McBeth III, Ikeoluwani Grace Apata, Jamareon Mann, Tianna Bowen, Keniyah Stephenson, and Zaria Jacobs.

Contest Play All-Sectional Honors: Actors Ikeoluwani Grace Apata, John McBeth III, Jamareon Mann, Amonis Overstreet, and Joseph Merritt. Along with light tech Shekinah Ogedebe, Leslie Aguilar, AND sound tech Zairayt Garcia!

Finally, congratulations to Ikeoluwani Grace Apata, John McBeth III, Tianna Bowen, Keniyah Stephenson, Jamareon Mann and Zaria Jacobs who have officially placed in the top 6 of Musical Theatre Review at State!!

Huge congratulations to North Theatre’s Shakespeare Slam team who ,despite all being leads in our fall musical The Color Purple, finished as the 2024 Chicago Shakespeare Theater Slam Champions! 🏆

After having very limited rehearsals, we clinched the win and got a standing ovation from the living legend Ron OJ Parsons!

Big ups to Seniors John McBeth III, Zaria Jacobs, Kiera Gould and Tianna Bowen, as well as Sophomores Ikeoluwani Grace Apata and Victoria Jolie Spencer!
