Perk alert! Being a part of the Northeast Iowa Community College community affords our child development center some pretty amazing perks like heading to the library to have story time with the kind library staff.
We went on a tour , did coloring pages, and were given an extra treat of temporary tattoos. The most fun of course was being read the story of" George the Dinosaur " by the publisher herself! What a fun book written by Norma Casper. The kids really enjoyed the story. Thanks for the great morning!

Enjoying meals in our commons area helps us practice good manners,develop fine motor skills,and builds better eye hand coordination. We get to fellowship with friends, siblings, and even cousins!
Shared mealtimes foster independence, self confidence and self regulation.
Mealtime conversation helps expand vocabulary, while sharing and taking turns build social skills and etiquette.
Sorting dishes and silverware after finishing each meal creates a sense of responsibility for each child.
The family style approach turns mealtime into a learning opportunity that boosts self-confidence and fosters a positive relationship with food and each other. Teachers have the opportunity to learn so much about each child when meals are shared in a relaxed environment.
We get messy sometimes but we sure do enjoy breakfast, lunch and most often snacktime in our commons room with each other!

Worked on some Cat in the Hat art today but our focus is never the end product, art is for the children to enjoy.
Process-focused art prioritizes the experience, exploration, and creative journey over the final, polished product. This approach encourages children to experiment with materials, fostering critical thinking, fine motor skills, and emotional expression without the pressure of a "correct" outcome. It is open-ended, allowing for unique, individual creations and its simply more fun!
