Congratulations Gracyn!

Congratulations to the 2026 reciepient of the Billy Moran Scholarship, Gracyn Halloran. She will receive a $3000 scholarship and her name engraved on the Scholarship plaque in the Sullivan West school lobby.

At Sullivan West Gracyn excelled in athletics, academics, and many other extracurriculars. She was named the 2026 Female Scholar Athlete and and was third in her graduating class with an impressive average of 100.96. She graduated with an advanced regents diploma with a civil seal of biliteracy and civil seal of civic readiness. Gracyn's track and cross country accolades are truly unbelievable, earning countless championships, state medals, and breaking 7 school records. On the soccer field she earned her place as a team captain, was named Miss Soccer and also was named to the Class C all star team. Gracyn's coaches noted her quiet leadership, not a loud leader on the field or track, but one that leads by example. They also praised her work ethic, good sportsmanship and steady support of her teammates.

Beyond the track and soccer field, Gracyn was also dedicated to helping her community, volunteering for the last 5 years as an AYSO youth soccer referee, volunteering with the Callicoon Center ladies auxiliary, and as a member of the Sullivan West student council assisting with this years Wreathes Acrossed America initiative.

Gracyn will be attending the University of New Hampshire where she will be competing at the D1 level for both cross country and track.

The Moran Family and Scholarship Fund wishes you the best of luck and wants to congratulate you once again on being this year’s recipient of the Billy Moran Scholarship.

Congratulations to Evan Ebert the 2025 recipient of the Billy Moran Scholarship. The scholarship committee tries to determine which student stands out among his/her peers, someone who best exemplifies the high standards that Billy set as a student, athlete and person. Evan maintained a grade point average of over 92% while taking 5 college classes this year. He had impressive achievements on the football and baseball fields as well as the basketball court. In addition to being a member of the football team which won three division championships and two Section IX championships, Evan also was recognized individually with the Coaches Award and Team MVP in football, basketball and baseball, 2024 Regional Football Championship Game Defensive MVP, selection for the Fred Ahart All Tournament Team in basketball and earned at least seven All Section IX All Star Team selections with at least two selections in each of three sports.
Evan received many accolades from his coaches. They commented, "Evan is an athlete that any coach would want on their team; a great teammate, great role model and a natural born leader....just a great human being." Mr. Bauer who was one of Billy's coaches for 5 years and Evan's teacher for 2 years said "Evan is the epitome of being a leader, and one of the best leaders this program has ever had-on and off the field. Evan is a great athlete and an even better person."
The Moran family would like to congratulate Evan and wish him luck as he pursues a plan which includes Sullivan County Community College followed by SUNY Cortland for Physical Education!

We are happy to announce Elizabeth Reeves as the 2023-2024 recipient of the Billy Moran Scholarship.
Liz had impressive achievements in all of the areas we evaluate. Not only was she a three sport athlete, but also graduated from Sullivan West as this year’s valedictorian with a GPA of 102.33. Just a few of her athletic accomplishments include recognition as Miss Soccer, receiving the soccer coaches award, and being invited to the Section 9 Exceptional Senior Soccer game. She was also named Miss Softball and was captain of both the soccer and softball team. Liz was also recognized as the Sullivan West Athletics Female recipient for the Orange County Interscholastic Athletics Association Scholar-Athlete award.
Outside of school, she volunteered many hours to several different local organizations including: Town of Callicoon Youth Basketball Coach, AYSO referee and maintaining AYSO fields; Liz was also the student representative on the Board of Education, an active FFA member, a member of National Honor Society, and more.
Congratulations to Liz from the Moran Family and the Billy Moran Scholarship!!
