We all started from zero, but not the same way… 👇

£900 a month in London. Today — an AI company in the USA.

📍 2014 Her first paycheck in the UK: £900 a month at a fast-food stand near Buckingham Palace in London.

Today she runs an Artificial Intelligence company in the USA.

And no — this isn't just another "run-of-the-mill" story.

This is the story of a Romanian woman who lived in shared housing in London, commuted for hours every day, and in her little free time, taught herself Excel, HTML, and WordPress from YouTube because she couldn't afford courses.

🎙 INTERVIEW Reporter: When did you arrive in the UK?

R. Stan: In 2014. I left Timișoara with a backpack of clothes and a lot of illusions, to live out my own version of the "English dream."

After just two days I was working at a mobile fast-food stand. £900 a month — that was normal for a job like that.

What followed:

babysitting off the books, £3/hour
cleaning at a nursing home (laundry, heavy shift work)
cleaning private homes
factories and warehouses
hours lost commuting every day

"Life in London is beautiful when you have a good job. It's hard when you're living on minimum wage."

Her little free time? YouTube tutorials. Basic Excel. HTML. WordPress.

🔄 2017 In Romanian community groups, there were a lot of low-paying job listings for warehouses, factories, and construction sites.

R. Stan called a Romanian woman who kept posting job openings.

She asked if they were still looking for people.

The woman told her there were no more warehouse spots. The only opening left was a basic office job — data entry.

"Do you have any qualifications?" "No." "Any experience?" "No, just what I taught myself from YouTube, working on my own on my laptop."

"Good enough! Can you come in for an interview tomorrow?" "YESSS"

All she had was her laptop and what she'd taught herself, late into the night.

The interview was the next day.

She took everything she had in her pocket: £20. She went to Primark. She bought a pair of pants, a top, and a pair of "slightly fancier" sandals.

"I didn't have office clothes. But I knew for certain I was the right person, at the right time."

She went to the interview and got the job.

The company offered her training. Qualifications. Courses. She grew into payroll, finance, and HR.

🌍 2020 — the pandemic hit No work. Businesses closed. Rent still had to be paid. Food.

She started making banners. Websites. Photo and video editing. Simple mobile apps. She met people in the same situation, but from other countries.

"I had no work, I needed money, I did a lot of small side gigs — but a lot of them."

🚀 2024 – The turning point She discovers Artificial Intelligence.

"I understood that AI isn't a trend. It's a shift that will touch everyone."

She started studying, testing, building.

Together with people she'd met during the pandemic, she laid the foundation for a company in the USA:
