HCESC’s campus at Hoffman’s Crossing is forty-seven acres of farmland, natural habitats and spectacular beauty in the heart of Hunterdon County, New Jersey. With extensive educational facilities, The Campus is a unique destination for environmental education, field science, earth-based and nature-t
hemed arts instruction, and professional development. The main building has conference space accommodating 150 people as well as numerous breakout rooms that can be used for community meetings and professional development. The multiple buildings include two dedicated spaces for ceramics, fiber arts, and other mediums; in addition, the “pond pavilion” and stocked pond serve as a regional hub for the New Jersey Hooked on Fishing-Not on Drugs program in collaboration with the NJDEP/Division of Fish & Wildlife. The 1840s barn and pastures are home to alpacas and goats, a center piece of the Feed to Fiber program, a curriculum that integrates animal science, environmental stewardship and the arts. The nature loop provides trail access to the scenic Ken Lockwood Gorge of the Raritan River’s So. Branch, regarded as one of New Jersey’s best trout fisheries. The nearby Columbia Rail Trail offers additional opportunities for recreational hiking and biking.
