🏠❤️ SHS Interact Club Gives Back!

This past Saturday, members of the Sonoraville High School Interact Club rolled up their sleeves and put in some hard work to make a difference in our community! 🛠️ Students volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, an organization dedicated to helping people in communities locally and around the world build or improve a place they can call home.

We are proud of these Phoenix students for giving their time, energy, and talents to serve others and make a positive impact! 🔥

🎓🐾 DISCOVER GEORGIA AT UGA!

Sonoraville High School students Dawson Richards, Carden Sampson, and Jenica Weaver were invited to attend the 2026 Discover Georgia event at the University of Georgia on Thursday, August 27!

Discover Georgia is an invitation-only event for high-achieving rising seniors who have been recognized as Georgia Certificate of Merit (COM) recipients. During their visit, students heard from UGA Admissions, connected with current students and alumni, and learned more about higher education and the many opportunities available at the University of Georgia.

We are proud of these students for earning this special recognition and representing Phoenix Nation! 🔥

A sincere THANK YOU to the Georgia Golf Course Superintendents Association (GGCSA), Marietta Country Club, and Eastlake Golf Club for welcoming our students and taking time out of an incredibly busy season to make our field trip such a valuable experience!

Our students had the opportunity to see firsthand what goes into the installation of new holes on a golf course, including the planning, construction, agronomic practices, and attention to detail required to develop a quality playing surface.

We also explored the many career opportunities within the golf industry, from golf course agronomy and turfgrass management to the equipment maintenance and technology that keeps a golf course operating every day.

Experiences like this allow our students to connect what they learn in the classroom to real-world careers and see just how many opportunities exist within the golf and turfgrass industry.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who shared their time, knowledge, and expertise with our students. Your willingness to invest in the next generation means more than you know!

If you have not yet completed the 2027-2028 School Calendar Survey, please take a few moments to share your preference between Option 1 and Option 2. The primary difference between the two proposed calendars is the timing of Fall Break.

The survey also includes an optional section about school and district communications. These questions will help us better understand how you receive information, which communication tools you prefer, and whether there is interest in exploring a more centralized approach to communication.
