October is National Principals Month, and Gordon County Schools is proud to recognize the dedicated leaders who serve our schools each day.
Danny Lowrance is in his 24th year as an educator and his 4th year as principal of Ashworth Middle School. Before becoming principal, he also served three and a half years as assistant principal at AMS.
Ashworth Middle holds a special place in Mr. Lowrance’s career and family. He began his career there in 2002 as a 7th grade math teacher, his children attended the school, and he now has nephews who are current students. That long connection has made the students and staff at AMS feel like an extended family.
One of the things Mr. Lowrance enjoys most about being a principal is that no two days are exactly alike. Each day brings new challenges, new situations to work through, and new opportunities to support students and staff.
He is especially proud of the academic growth Ashworth Middle has continued to make over the past four years. Even when challenges arise, Lowrance appreciates the way students and staff continue working toward improvement.
A message Mr. Lowrance wants every student to know is that they are loved and cared for at AMS. For him, being a principal means believing in every student, supporting every teacher, and helping create a school where everyone feels valued and has the opportunity to grow.
Outside of school, Mr. Lowrance enjoys woodworking and restoring antique furniture. He especially enjoys learning the history behind older pieces, understanding how they were built, and bringing them back to life while preserving their original character.
Mr. Lowrance’s wife, Jenni, works as a Pre-K paraprofessional at Belwood Elementary. Their daughter, Lindsey, graduated from the University of Georgia in May, and their son, Owen, is a junior at Dalton State College pursuing a degree in high school mathematics education.
During National Principals Month, Gordon County Schools is proud to recognize Danny Lowrance for his leadership, commitment, and long standing dedication to Ashworth Middle School and the students, staff, and families he serves.
