I had so much fun sharing my experiences at Ironman Louisville with Mrs. DeGuire's class this morning. They are reading a book where one of the characters is training for an Ironman, and they had questions about Triathlon. Thank you for allowing me to ramble about one of my passions.

Today I chose to move for 45 minutes at a brisk pace. This picture has been me for far too long, and I have chosen Tacos too many times.

The label "Ironman" almost seems foreign to me. I've spent the better part of ten years chasing athletic accomplishments I never obtained when I was young. I've pushed myself in the sport of Triathlon through its beginning stages to its very pinnacle the Ironman, and finished TWICE. I've subsisted on health food, sports drinks, a substance called goo, and good ole H2O. Over the past nine months life has gone from the finish line at Ironman Louisville to a spot on the couch eating ANYTHING, and putting any type of exercise off until tomorrow. Life has taken me from chasing athletic challenges to chasing a living with the formation of a new business. The hours I once spent riding, running, and swimming I now spend driving nails, laying tile, painting, and a host of other skills I thought I had put away forever. God has blessed our new business venture more than we could have ever imagined, and has helped me realize what is most important now, but the price has been training for, and competing in Triathlon. The identity I earned as Butch The Ironman, has quickly become Mr. Fix it the Handyman. Life has now entered a new season for me, and I must make some much needed adjustments. Triathlon is not over, but will now take a new priority. When I decide to return, it will be for enjoyment not as a second job. My second job now comes with a pay check, a heftier waistline, and a new identity. This page will now take a new direction, that direction being life after Ironman.

Tonight was a whopping 10 miles on the bike trainer. My f***y is out of shape, and it's this old boys fault. The training plan I've chosen begins with that distance, so I will slowly build myself back. What a difference since October.

The highways of life are continually paved with good intentions. This Triathlon season, for me, has been non existent to this point. This morning I got back on the treadmill after a four week hiatus. I will say it was short, slow, and ugly, but it was a first step in the right direction. My nutrition is horrendous existing of fast food and sweets. Life sometimes takes a turn that we aren't ready for, but I'm getting this bus turned back around. I must learn to juggle my time more efficiently without killing myself. Hats off to a new start.
