CHS FCCLA students recently visited Kennesaw State University for National Be a Teacher Day! Students explored careers in education, learned more about the teaching profession, and discovered opportunities to inspire the next generation.

We love seeing our Jackets explore their interests and future possibilities! 🐝

Calhoun Early Learning Academy had a special visitor to celebrate Georgia Pre-K Week! 📚🐝

We loved welcoming Senator Chuck Payne, who stopped by to read "Every Amazing Song" by Coy Bowles and Malcolm Mitchell to our Youngest Jackets. As part of this statewide initiative, every Pre-K student across GA received a copy of the book to take home.

Thank you, Senator Payne, for celebrating early learning with us!

CCS is proud to support the VOLUNTARY ACTION CENTER's Fired Up Food Drive, October 19–23! After collecting more than 12,000 non-perishable food items last year, we’re challenging our community to help us reach 20,000 this year.

Send donations with your student or drop them off at any CCS school or the Central Office after Fall Break, October 19–23.🥫🐝

Every donation counts, and every item can help a neighbor in need. Let’s give back and for our community, where we learn and live!

💻 COLA Mid-Year Applications are now open!

Calhoun Online Learning Academy is accepting applications for the second semester of the 2026–2027 school year, beginning in January 2027.

Applications are due October 30, 2026, and applicants will be notified of the COLA Committee’s decision on December 15, 2026. Students currently enrolled in COLA do not need to submit another application.

CHS students are getting their feet wet in Environmental Science!

Coach Greene’s 12th-grade Environmental Science students recently headed to the creek at the Calhoun Recreation Department for a hands-on look at our local ecosystem. Students got right into the water, lifting rocks and logs to see what they could find and identifying crayfish, snails, clams, mussels, and stonefly larvae along the way.

Throughout the semester, they’re using our community as an outdoor classroom to test water quality, identify invasive species, and learn more about how human activity affects the environment.

We love seeing our Jackets get outside, explore, and experience what they’re learning firsthand! 🐝
