Pre-K Blue had another busy and exciting week of learning! We continued our Community Helpers theme by learning about doctors, dentists, and veterinarians and discussing the important ways they help people and animals in our community. Our students even had the opportunity to participate in health and dental screenings, giving us a real-life connection to what we have been learning! 🩺🦷🐾

🔤 Literacy:
This week we focused on the letter G and continued developing our early literacy skills by practicing segmenting words and listening for the different sounds we hear in words. We also enjoyed several read-alouds, including Fireman Small, Officer Buckle and Gloria, and The Leaf Thief. 📚

🔢 Math:
We explored AB patterns, practicing how to recognize, copy, extend, and create simple repeating patterns.

🍂 Fall Learning:
With fall here, we talked about the fall season, changes we may notice outside, and how the weather begins to change. The Leaf Thief was a fun way to connect our literacy learning with our conversations about fall leaves and seasonal changes.

🧪 Friday Science Fun:
We ended our week with an exciting science experiment! Our little scientists made “bubbling fire” safely using baking soda. Before beginning, we discussed what we thought might happen and made predictions about the possible outcomes. Then we watched the reaction and talked about what we observed. 🔥🧪

Community Helper Week 2
We measured ourselves with blocks, made chef hats, played dress up in the home living and block area, and talked all things about jobs and what people do. We also draw a garbage truck, made our names with cutting traffic cones, put out the fire letters (alphabet activities) and made doctor stew!

We finished our Community Helpers theme with a Pizza Station. The children made their own pizzas and then we ate them outside.

We also thanked Angela Smith-Brown for being a great chef and Community Helper. She heated our pizzas and makes our food everyday.

We also thanked Samantha Holt for being a Community Helper and checking out teeth for our dental screening.
