State FFA Convention💙💛

These high achieving, excellent FFA students got the chance to attend State FFA Convention in Columbia, Mo. They all had the time of their lives, learning & engaging more with FFA. I was sure to take them on MU campus while in town, so they got the full como experience! They also loved all of their girl time, as they became closer in their friendships & FFA journey. Some even left feeling very empowered saying, “I want to be up there on stage as a State FFA Officer.”

While at State FFA Convention, the Valley Caledonia FFA Chapter was awarded the NATIONAL SUPERIOR CHAPTER AWARD!

The National Chapter Award Program is designed to recognize FFA chapters that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization. These chapters improve chapter operations using the National Quality Chapter Standards (NQCS) and a Program of Activities (POA) that emphasize growing leaders, building communities and strengthening agriculture. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership.

In order to qualify for a state or national award, your chapter must complete at least 15 activities: one for each of the five quality standards in each of the three divisions. Additionally, the chapter must meet the minimum requirements as outlined in the National Quality Chapter Standards.

It is an absolute honor to have been your Vocational Agriculture Instructor & FFA Advisor the past 2 years! You girls have made me so incredibly proud, as you have come out of your shells & are doing some amazing things. I will miss the students, as they are what fuels & overflows my teacher cup! Go do great, astonishing things & never give up on your dreams girls!

Pictures from National FFA Convention this year!

FFA officers got the opportunity to attend National FFA Convention in November of 2024. They all had an absolute blast. We attended & did a variety of things while in Indianapolis, Indiana.
- Convention - Attended multiple sessions & the career show, as well as serving on Courtesy Corps!! Students had a great time learning & taking new FFA leadership & learning opportunities. Their highlight was meeting other members from all over the world.
- Ozark Fisheries Tour - Fish farming at its finest. This tour showed students all about raising fish (more ornamental fish) from start to finish.
- Fair Oaks Farm Tour - Super cool/fun farm tour that was very educational. The tour taught students all aspects of hog & cattle production, milking procedures, & crop production, with hands on activities.
- Visited Lake Michigan! The students loved this opportunity & still talk about it to this day.

During National Thank a Farmer week, FFA officers Anna Pyatt & Savanna Wells read the book “Rosie’s Wild Ride” to the Kindergarten, First, & Second grades. These FFA members did an excellent job reading to the students & engaging with them on various levels about the book. The book drove home a great message that you can do absolutely anything & be anything you want as long as you put your mind to it, but through the eyes & mind of the horse Rosie!

Thank you to Washington County Farm Bureau for donating the book to the FFA program to read to the elementary students. After the book was read to the elementary students, the Valley Caledonia FFA Chapter donated the book to the library at Valley Elementary for students to be able to check out! The FFA Chapter had tons of fun celebrating with students through the act of reading them a super fun book!🐴

In April, Valley Caledonia FFA officers were able to attend the annual Youth Leadership Day put on by Missouri Farm Bureau. Students had many leadership, learning, & networking opportunities. They learned about Missouri Farm Bureau & all that they had to offer including careers, leadership/scholarship opportunities, & so much more. Students also got to meet with their state Representatives, Mr. Harbison & Mr. McGirl, as well as go into the house gallery to watch! We were then able to get a tour to the Whispering Gallery & to the very top of the Capitol, closing our great day out back at the Missouri Farm Bureau Headquarters with a fantastic lunch & speakers, Mr. Kehoe, Mrs. Chinn, & many other agriculturists. Fun was had by all, as well as a lot of learning about capitol business & opportunities for the future considered! We would also like to thank Mr. Jim Reed for attending with us & inviting us as he serves on the Washington County Farm Bureau Board.🇺🇸🇺🇸🤠

In late March, a representative from the American Welding Academy came to talk to the Ag Structures class here at Valley High School. Mr. Hellmann gave a great presentation on all that the American Welding Academy has to offer, making sure to explain their programs in great depth. He brought in different welding pieces & even showed the students how to tig weld. All of the students had fun learning about the American Welding Academy & different welding opportunities/careers, as well as the skills that Mr. Hellmann brought along. Thank you so much Mr. Hellmann for visiting us & having fun with us all, while learning more about the welding industry.👨🏼‍🏭👩🏻‍🏭

The Valley Caledonia FFA Dairy Foods Team! These girls did an awesome job competing this spring at Districts, as well as all of the hard work that they put in to coming to our Dairy Foods practices. They all had fun learning about dairy foods, along with tasting the many cheeses & dairy products such as drinking heavy whipping cream & half & half. They learned so much, as did I while I was coaching & cheering them on along the way! Great job girls, you are doing awesome & will go far in whatever you put your minds to. Thank you so much for always showing up & putting in your all.🥛🧀🐮
