To all families enrolled for 2020-'21 preschool, this went out today through email and/ or regular mail, as I do not have everyone's email address.

Dear Families,

I know everyone is anxiously awaiting word as to whether Argyle Preschool will be opening this year. This letter is to inform you that I will not be returning this Fall as teacher- Director. Personal circumstances, including my family life and an upcoming move, have influenced my decision to step back and accept an opportunity to be an assistant teacher - Director at an area school. I am hoping this new role allows me to continue working with children and their families, which I am passionate about, while allowing me more time to focus on my own children and family.

The Argyle Preschool Board is hoping to open this year under the care of a new teacher - Director and working to hire one. If circumstances prevent this from happening, your registration fee for this year will be returned to you. A new teacher-Director may opt to change the previously created calendar for this school year and may need to begin the year a little later than the original September 3rd start date. You will be notified of any changes as soon as possible.
Furthermore, any qualified interested applicants may apply for this position. A four year Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in Education is a minimum requirement.

If you are no longer planning to attend Argyle this Fall and would like to have your $75.00 registration fee returned now, please email the Church office at [email protected]. Please put attn: Diane V. in the subject line, and be sure to include your name, child's name, and your current address along with your request.

I know I don't need to tell any of you how much I've loved my time with Argyle Preschool, and how much I will miss all of you wonderful families who've made this job so rewarding. I know the new person assuming this role will feel the same care, guidance and support from you and the wonderful Preschool Board that we operate within.

Please keep in touch and continue to reach out with anything I may be able to help with in the future.

Best Regards!!!

Stephanie Konen

The end of the year and last day when I say goodbye is always hard. This year was hard on a different level, and in a very different way. During a normal year, we have just experienced so many fun and exciting things since Spring. We've searched for Leprechaun treasure, dyed our Easter Eggs, and performed our songs for families at the big Spring Sing. We've watched caterpillars turn into butterflies and released them outside, waving excitedly as they fly away. We've grown plants from seeds, made sweet Mother's Day presents, and even worked ahead to have something to give our Dad's in June. The end of the year is fun, it's exhausting, and it's bittersweet as I yearn for some time off while trying to soak in every last moment with "my" kids. I know half of these students, my PreKs, won't be returning. I feel pride in knowing they're ready for Kindergarten and confident that their love of school has provided them a great foundation for all that's to come. But the annual sadness creeps in because I know that after two precious years of holding these pudgy little hands, and getting the very best hugs, the kind that only preschoolers give, I am about to have to say goodbye. A usual last day of school is filled with handmade cards, beautiful plants, coffee gift cards, and some tears. We fill our backpacks with whatever still needs to go home, and then spend the day on the playground. We laugh, play, ride tricycles and big wheels, and take those final trips down the preschool slide. We sit in the sun on beach towels, read stories about summer fun, and eat drippy popsicles. The hugs and tears begin again as the parents arrive. Last day pictures with the teacher are taken, and then it's over. I'm left with a heavy heart, but also the excitement and anticipation of a well deserved break. (If I do say so myself, ha ha). There is closure as I leave the school, load my car, and think back on the year. This year didn't just "end early". It left us without that much needed closure. The students left one day in mid-March, expecting to come back wearing their green and search for signs of a Leprechaun visit, only to never come back again. They had plans in their heads of who they would play with, a picture they'd colored for a friend in their backpack, or a special toy they couldn't wait to share. They had plans about what they'd bring to the next Show & Tell, or birthday invitations ready to pass out. Our Moms and Dads thought they had several more weeks of these preschool mornings, whatever they entailed, still to go before our summer break. March 13th's announcement came and ended all of that. The plans, things that would have, could have happened, ... all of it was just over. And yesterday, Wednesday May 6th, my families drove up and I loaded student materials into trunks and front seats, got to wave to "hello-goodbye" to these sweet preschoolers, some of whom wore masks, and I got to chat for a brief moment with my much missed Moms and Dads. Getting to finally see everyone for the first time in several weeks helped, but today my heart aches and feels so much heavier than it normally would at the end of a year, as I know too well everything these kids missed out on. I'm grateful knowing much of this is made up for at home with all the extra family time, creative activities, stories and extra snuggles with Mom and Dad, but I miss them, and I wish I could have done more. So while I am currently very grateful that my family is safe at home, healthy, and thus far not too badly affected by Covid-19, I just need to recognize that saying goodbye this year was a different kind of hard, and I know "my" kids and their families agree and feel it too. Please squeeze them all once more from Mrs. K.

👋 Happy YES day! Sorry kids, I have to work at school alone or I’d invite you all to come. I know we all miss being here together. But I hope you enjoy the story. 📖 💗

Sometimes we feel grumpy, and we don’t know why.

I don’t mean to scare the kids, but I gave up make up and hair styling a month ago! HI 👋 to all of them from Mrs. K!!!
