– Letter U Week
This week, our afterschoolers class focused on the Letter U through engaging, hands-on learning experiences centered around Unicorns and Umbrellas. As part of our fine motor development activities, the children participated in sorting, threading, and manipulating small materials to strengthen essential early learning skills.
During these activities, children practiced their pincer grasp by picking up small pom-poms and beads, helping to strengthen the muscles in their fingers and hands. They also developed hand-eye coordination while carefully placing objects into containers and threading beads onto strings. These tasks encouraged bilateral coordination, requiring children to use both hands together to complete activities successfully.
The children worked on finger strength, which supports future writing, cutting, and self-help skills. They remained focused and engaged while sorting materials by color, creating patterns, and completing hands-on tasks. These activities also promoted early math concepts, including sorting, matching, and classification.
Our Letter U activities featuring Unicorns and Umbrellas provided fun and meaningful opportunities for children to build pre-writing skills, improve concentration, and develop confidence while working independently. The children showed great persistence, creativity, and enthusiasm throughout the week as they explored the Letter U through play-based learning.
