Caldwell Senior High School Memorial Page

Share

This is a memorial page for any current/former student or staff of Caldwell Senior High School in Caldwell, Idaho who has passed away.

I started this page so that there would be a central location that we could honor our classmates that have passed for each class year. The page will only post pictures of individuals and not headstones of our classmates. The page wants to celebrate their life and not their headstone of their death. In case of no picture is available then a candle will be posted until a picture is available. Please

Class of 1980

Andrew Leonard Perry

1962 - July 7, 2024

Andrew Leonard ("Andy") Perry, 62, of Nampa, Idaho, left this world to join the Lord on July 7, 2024, surrounded by his family. Andy was the middle child of Edward and Joy Perry. He was born in Caldwell, Idaho and spent his childhood in Nevada and Idaho. He graduated from Caldwell High School in 1980. After graduation, he joined the Marines. He left active duty and continued in the Marine Reserves. During his life he worked for Idaho Fish & Game, Direct TV, and as an emergency dispatcher for utility companies. While living in Horseshoe Bend, Andy was a volunteer firefighter and earned his EMT certification. He loved fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors. Andy met his beloved wife, Melissa, at the College of Idaho, not "sitting in a tree" as Andy liked to tell the story. He and Melissa were the best of friends and married on December 26, 1986, in Winnemucca, Nevada with older sister Dixie and brother-in-law Paul as chauffeurs and witnesses. Andy and Melissa lived in various places in Idaho and Montana in their 38 years of marriage. Throughout their marriage he often wrote love notes for his wife to find. During his last hospital stay, he would ask the nurses and staff if they had met his beautiful wife. Andy was goofy, had the best bad dad jokes, and truly loved people. He was all heart and would help a friend or stranger without question. If you were feeling down, Andy would do his best to put a smile on your face. He also greatly loved animals - when you went to visit you were always greeted by a dog at the door. He was the fifth generation of his family to live in Idaho. He loved researching genealogy, learning all he could about how his pioneer ancestors lived, and exploring different parts of the state. The Perry family loved to play the card game "Shanghai" and came together each Friday for a weekly game for many years. He thought he was a pretty good card player, but his younger sister, Lynelle, would beg to differ. Andy was a member of Treasure Valley Baptist Church and continued to hold the congregation in his heart even though he could no longer attend in person due to his health. His parents, Edward, and Joy Perry preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Melissa, and his sisters, Dixie Durham (Paul Durham) and Lynelle Perry, and various other loved family members (both blood relations and family by choice) that are far too numerous to list because God blessed him with many. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of St. Luke's-Boise 7 East and Medical ICU for their care of Andy and Melissa during Andy's stay. A memorial service will be held on July 31st, 2024, 10:00 am at Treasure Valley Baptist Church in Meridian, Idaho. Cremation is under the direction of Cremation Society of Idaho. A private interment will be held at Kohler Lawn Cemetery at a later date. To honor Andy's love of animals, the family requests that donations be made to an animal rescue or shelter in lieu of flowers.

Class of 1965

Larry Virgil Porter

December 14, 1946 ~ January 31, 2022

Larry Virgil Porter was born on December 14, 1946, in Wahoo, Nebraska then was legally adopted by Virgil W Porter and his amazing wife, Lois “Lucille” Porter on December 22, 1946, in York, Nebraska, where he was raised. Dad lived and breathed Nebraska Cornhuskers football until the very end. He left us unexpectedly and heartbroken on Monday January 31, 2022, in his home.
In 1962, the Porter family relocated to Caldwell, Idaho, and being a teenage boy in high school was not too happy about it. He got into plenty of trouble at school and was always telling us kids about some of the shenanigans, such as hiding in closets while making hoot noises at the teachers, or the time he tore a bunch of papers up and threw them into the radiator, just to watch people’s reactions when they would go to switch them on. That was just the type of person he was. Regardless of his constant “fun,” he graduated from Caldwell High School on May 24, 1965. He even went to the University of Idaho for a little while and try his hand at becoming a History Teacher but decided that it just wasn’t for him. Dad ended up working for the City of Caldwell for a little while, and then later worked for Kit Manufacturing and built RV furniture until his retirement.
In 1970, Larry married Debbie Norton- Shaffer and together they had a son, Ryan in 1972. They later divorced in 1974. He later married Sandra (Sandy) Shaver on July 9, 1976. Together they had three children: Daron in 1980, Krysta in 1987, and Kathryn (Kari) in 1988. They later divorced in 2007 but remained on fantastic terms. Dad loved baseball, he pushed to have us all involved in baseball, softball, or even just t-ball as much as we’d tolerate. When he wasn’t helping coach, he was like the official scorekeeper to whichever team any of us would be playing on. He rarely missed a game, girl scout meeting, dance recital, drama production, choir concert, school musical, or piano recital. I think he truly tried to be the best dad he could to all of us. I must add, he also almost never missed a San Francisco 49ers game, a San Francisco Giants game, or his beloved Huskers football games. There will be no service at his request, he never wanted to “make it a big deal,” but he will be so missed.
Larry is survived by his children and their spouses all of Caldwell, Ryan (Kaycee) Porter, Daron (Jennifer Delarosa) Porter, Krysta (Logan) Kelley, and Kari Porter. His grandchildren, Greysen and Oliver Porter, Bradlee Delarosa and Rylee Porter, Kegan Porter, Kinsley Fullmer, Kennedy and Kambria Upchurch. A niece, Alicia Riley of Parma; Aunt Maxine Houston of Notus, and several cousins.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Virgil and Lucille Porter, and his ex-wife, Sandy Porter, who we know he missed a lot. We love you dad.

GO BIG RED!
